This is a "back in the day" picture which has faded horribly. Is there a way to restore it?
Make it B & W:
This was the best I could do.
There are lots of professionals who could do the restoration just need the money. Those by Harp look great!
I had the same problem as Harp with the magenta tones. I agree about black and white, so here's my try:
Probably not what you are after, but I think you can be a junior Valkyrie of a distopic near-future
Cool to see how these change through technology. Being a child of the fifties though, most of my pictures look like this, and I've grown to like the world expressed in monochromatic orange. B & W looks good too. Look at you go, girl!
Here's a link to a free online photo editor, that produces similar results as the autocorrections in Photoshop... from what I can see if you want to get better results, you're going to have to scan the original at higher resolution, something on the order of 2 megabytes or more, sharpen the image and then dive in with specific touch up and color balance for any given part of the photo. In short, you'll need to literally paint the picture. It will most definitely be a learning experience, or you can take the original to a photo restoration place and pay a pro to do the same thing.
i like people's efforts, jenny - and i really like the pic! thats you? brave!
i think tho it is worth getting it done professionally, if you can. they cant charge a hundred bucks, surely.
I will probably check into having it done professionally just because it is one of my favorites. My mom took this, she took several of me jumping over the years and got pretty good and clicking at the right moment! Not easy, I was flying.
Thank you all for your efforts! Jmac, I'll try the photo editor too, it would be a learning experience for sure.
A great photo !
I'd imagine it's worth a pro fixing it up -- what a cool shot of you, definitely worth getting more crisp again : )
Show us the new one when done, okay?
