Me and my son have a thing every year, an ongoing contest of sorts, put on hold while he was in the service, of course

First fish, biggest fish, most fish total, and most species of fish. We enjoy tricking fish; some say it's a crude endeavor

This year, I'm ahead in all categories (and will remain so on FIRST), having tricked this pretty, and large by most standards, crappie (crop-pee) with a greeny rattler bait

What's awesome too is that it came from a city park pond just two blogs from our wooded semi-urban estate

I got the fishing fever yesterday over in THE DOTTE where, just a few houses down from Fat Boy Troy's where we was decksterously diggling, I saw this eagle stump

Note: in the beak and claws of Mr. or Mrs. Eagle, is a

It is not at all a crude endeavor. Rather, it is a noble endeavor.

Y'all carve eagles out of your stumps? At my old bandleader's house, the preference is for stuff we use

Who ever carved that eagle is an artist par excellence!  Wow!

Bonus video: the knife song, which I'd never seen before, by Eli, hysterical

that's very cool Kosher. It's like a totem pole. To be a musician you have to live it.

The eagle .. I have pictures from last Friday. He was out there with a welder mask and a chainsaw, doing detail work, totally outstanding as you see. I boldly park right in the street, hop out with my camera, tried to get his attention to ask permission. Took two minutes. He finally gestured that it was okay and went back at it.

nanatehay -- so three days ago I drive through this park, because it was nice out and wasn't in a hurry. The pond is decent size but unspectacular, paver edged like a short wall all around. We saw a Beatles cover band there last fall. Good park, but fish in that pond? I would have figured not really. So yes, I'm down there, see a young latte complexioned guy with two kids, carrying fishing poles back to their car. Of course, I asked him .. the report. Not only had he caught a fourteen inch crappie, he claimed, but bass too, and "a couple of catfish we couldn't lift up the (short) wall. They straightened the hook, or broke the line." Today I ventured. There's another far better looking pond too, equal distance different direction, which I also foofood and will be trying.
