Tamiflu, DayQuil, NyQuil, Cepacol lozenges, Halls cough drops, generic pseudoephedrin, generic guaifenesin. I think the Cepacol lozenges are what saved me by numbing my throat, my ribs are about sprung from coughing. The -Quils don't use pseudoephedrin anymore, thanks to the meth addicts, so I supplemented very occasionally. That stuff just works. My voice is, nonetheless, wrecked right now and I had to exercise it on the guy from the pest control service who came to spray the crawl space unannounced.
Fowler Pest Control has gone on the skids these past few years, they do not offer the same quality of service that they offered when I first moved here. They also offer fewer services. I'm going to have to find a new pest control company. The girl on the phone who set up the appointment was very short, which I can appreciate, but that apparently extended to not calling as promised and not sending someone who could do the inspection I requested. They'd better not charge me for it. Too bad for them that I am home with the flu.
I have reached the cranky phase of the illness.
My fever broke this morning and then resurfaced at a lesser degree a few hours later. I can't wait to see how much weight I've lost this week, though. My record so far is 10 pounds in a week but I was younger then and less adept at nursing myself.
The boarder cat is wanting out of his room. Adso and Medjet aren't keen on him being in the house yet so he's staying put. It's the small bedroom where I keep my books, and is nicely set up for him so it won't be a hardship if he has to spend the whole time in there. I don't think he will, though. They are already getting accustomed to his noises and not racing to the windows to chase away the interlopers. The owners won't get back until August 16 so there's time for them to adjust.
One unintended aspect to being sick this week is that the department is indeed finding out what I have been telling them all along, they can get by without someone in my position. One of the secretaries is making all of the final exams, it's a boon for her because she was caught up on her normal duties. There's a new app for putting in work orders so that everyone can do their own and I have made sure that everyone in the department has access to it. That leaves ordering office supplies and issuing keys, which are easy enough. And there we have it, I am superfluous. I'm not sure where this will take me, but what will happen will happen, especially since we will be having lay offs this summer. And just when I was resolving to stay for a few more years.
Oh well, sometimes we need a boost.
I am going to go fix my mangled fingernails now, have a good day out there.
