That's the name of the art installation at Fieldwork, a place near here for large-scale outdoor art works. I went to the opening party for Ear to the Ground - a giant ear made of deadwood, with a drum in the middle. Get it? - ear drum.
The ear-drum was made of an old satellite dish set on an iron drum - not good sound. I put my own drum on it briefly - but mine is a ritual drum, not really suitable for joining in with the drummists.
Turns out this guy lives almost across the road from me - just down a few hundred yards. I was thinking of getting him to come over with a couple of his logs for our Labor Day fest next year...but, no - these logs produce great showers of sparks and we have to keep our fires a little tamer. This set-up was in the middle of a field, but our fire-pit is close to the barn and big old trees.
My camera got weird as darkness fell, producing some weird shots of the flames.
