I'm doin it - my thang.  Today is my birthday. I can't even SAY how old I am, THAT"S how old I am.

Just started a new painting.  I'm into the flowers.  I'm also into working some old unfinished paintings.  I'm painting the grandkids.

just below is a new painting - started yesterday.  I like to work them until they scream.  my mission with this one is to keep it less finished because I like how this feels.  it's coming along...really nicely.  but tighter than I had hoped.  my style is my style.  it's like getting rid of a brooklyn accent.  ain't going to happen so fast.

(and who'd want to?)

Life is good!

I'm painting, I'm living, I got a good man, a couple great kids, a mess of grandkids and some fine fine friends, I'm riding my miserable stationary bike with arm things that breaks my ass every single day, I'm gonna start a diet, but if I don't - it ain't a thang, is it?

its funny...I haven't enjoyed a birthday in awhile.   I love them - every year we celebrate birthday festival and I get into it - but truthytruth I hadn't been enjoying and I can't say why - maybe too much on the plate, maybe my head needed a readjust.

whatever.  ::snap!::

I figure... now, I'm kinda at the homestretch - if you follow my drift - and I'm lovin it all.

I hope your life is good, too.

some paintings:

these were done this week...the topmost, the grandkid went pretty quickly...I'm liking the ease of the brushwork...next - still lifes - the first ISN'T finished after all.  the second I finished a couple of weeks ago. this is where you see why I'm not a good "commercial" fine artist - no consistency.  I paint what I like, how I like.  for these still lifes, I'm liking brushwork intensity.

um.  above is one of the "fails" I can't let go of.

next is an old painting that needed something - freshening...can't say but it's definitely fresher now. they sit in dark places for some time and things happen. dirt, mold, chips, etc.   so if you like a painting, you make things "unhappen".  and if I can, I make them better.  (sometimes I really screw them up...oh boy)

I think this one is better.  so woot!  I'm also working an old self portrait - really old one, I think I'm turning me into a vampire.  I kind of like that idea.  I'll share it if it ever comes together.  If not, I might share it anyway.  I should do a post about fails because those are usually interesting..at least to me.  you might think - what?

Not gonna touch that one with a 10 foot pole of petrified wood (from a tree you probably chopped down!  LOL)

Phyllis, Steel, thank you!

I had a great day - we're in the midst of festival-ing, meaning we celebrate until we get tired of exalting the day of my birth!

WOOT! (again, thank you.)
