DeVos Proposes the Deletion of Federal Funding of Special Olympics From Department of Education Budget

The Department of Education program budget is being cut by 12% across the board, while the line for executive pay in that department is being increased by 15%.

How is this action being taken against the must vulnerable and defenseless segment of our society consistent with the notion that: "Congress has the power to lay and collect taxes in order to promote the general welfare."?

Maybe it's because this is what Trump and his administration think of Americans with disabilities:

Just imagine...  this was all caused by a corporate pyramid scheme called Amway...

For years it has been pointed out by some of us that the humans currently identifying as Republicans or Conservatives or Right Wing simply do not care about other people outside their tight-nit little group. They are actually the ones with a genetic flaw, and it hinders our evolution as a species.

I just don't know if I should 'work' an op-ed as protest (also involving the 'popular vote') or 'hire out' to clean and finesse the moat.

Maui, It has become clear as crystal to me that one of the prerequisites to becoming and staying wealthy in this country is the willingness to shed all empathy toward others and acquire and retain a willingness to not only cause harm to others, but to profit by doing so and thus enrich oneself at the expense of the pain and suffering of others....

No one gets rich from caring for or about other people...

Indeed. What else can explain this away? What's truly pathetic is the large number of the not-so-wealthy who buy the Party line, one may only assume they hope to be behind a moat someday via Powerball or divine intervention?

The Kennedys are quite wealthy and have long been involved in public service. I’m really not sure wealth in and of itself means exploitation. Is every successful entertainer an exploiter?

As to DeVos’ action, this is a caricature of Republican lack of compassion.

"The Kennedys are quite wealthy and have long been involved in public service. "

By that definition both the Devos and the Trumps are wonderful families.

Now let's ask ourselves where these elitist 1%-ers got the money they use to control the politics of America and see if their familial "public service" is legit or just a slick covering of camouflage...

Trumps = Family history of lying, cheating and stealing ("Daddy" had a LOOOONG history of sketchy real estate dealings, slum lord'ing, an investigation for profiteering by Congress, etc., etc., etc.)

Devos = Family history of lying, cheating and hating ("HER Daddy" had a LOOOONG history of major contributions to the Family Research Council (LGBTQ hate group) and "HIS DADDY" had a LOOOONG history of promoting the corporate pyramid scheme called "Amway" and a big contributor to Focus on the Family (another LGBTQ hate group....  see a trend here yet?)

Kennedys = Family history of lying, cheating and stealing ("Daddy" had a LOOOONG history of insider trading & stock manipulation, was partially responsible for the freaking 1929 Wall Street Crash that brought on the Great Depression and if you can call him anything other than a covert support of the Nazis then you are freak'in delusional.)

Isn't it clear that, despite a thin veneer of "public service" camo paint, that there isn't one god damn bit of difference between the three of them???

Kosh, read my comment again...

No one gets rich or stays rich by caring for or about other people...

However, once super wealthy you can look awfully magnanimous with tax write offs for your philanthropy...

The Kennedy fortune allegedly originated in bootlegging whiskey during prohibition which entailed a variety of sordid and unsavory activities.

"Behind every great fortune lies a great crime."

"Every great fortune begins with a crime."

"At the root of every great fortune there was a crime."

These sayings are variations of a quote that has been attributed to one author, 19th century French novelist, Honoré de Balzac.
