I happen to come across a Time magazine (June 2012) “Shadow Americans” article by José Antonio in the dealership that I have my vehicle serviced. As I was waiting for my car to be serviced and reading this article, I couldn’t put the article down and looked forward to sharing it with Our Salon readers.
For some time, I have to admit, I didn’t understand the problem. It is not a simple one. There are plenty of shades of not black and not white when it comes to identifying the complexity of this ever debated issue.
After reading the article, I have a better understanding and respect for the path to citizenship issue our nation faces. I would encourage everyone to read this article. It has enlightened me a lot. I do not know the solution but can understand the debate better about immigration reform.
José Antonio wrote a wonderful explaination from a 1st person point of view. There is a ton of wonderful information in this piece. I don't want to put here because I want you to also read it and become informed. Ok Ok, I will add one quote:
"In three years, Obama has deported 1.2 million; it took President George W. Bush eight years to deport 1.6 million".
Has anyone else read this piece? If so, what are your thoughts?
