Christmas Day

Thinking of things I could have said

But never could say

All the hurt never gone away

It's Christmas Day it's Christmas Day!

They are words you can never take back

The Polar Express goes clickety clack

But in the real world pain and regrets

It's Christmas Day why the upsets,

Life isn't a Hallmark movie

Being young and ignorantly groovy

Yet all our lives we were led to believe

We could defeat the web reality weaves,

It's Christmas Day it's Christmas Day

All those debts will surely be paid

She left when she could have stayed

All those plans carefully laid,

Never to see the light of day

Affairs of the heart gone astray

Come back to haunt us and make us pay

On Christmas Day on Christmas Day!

Ghost of Christmas Past

"Affairs of the heart gone astray

Come back to haunt us and make us pay

On Christmas Day on Christmas Day!"

This stanza is a slice of literary perfection.

Ron Powell and alsoknownas thank you! I read a lot of Lord Byron at one time and every damn one of his poems of love and betrayal were of that caliber where as I can only manage a line or two! Once again thank you!
