I do not have the chops to parse political assertions and viewpoints like some can.

I stop in here at times to read what has been said by some. I've almost always been able to learn something. Sometimes I even check it out elsewhere, but mostly I approach it like I might approach breezing through a copy of Reader's Digest. I even took one of those books with me camping. Read an entire novel in about 100 pages.

That was fun.

I'll tell you what is not fun though;

I am bothered by comments and posts I see from people saying the new administration is doing its best and trying to create diversity etc.

One poster carried on like a child in tantrum when I questioned a statement of that sort. I am just as appalled now as when I read it.

Really? Billionaires and people who want to destroy public education, the environment, and civil rights? That's diversity?

Not only is that as dumb as a box of rocks it is arrogant and privileged to say something like that.

Wait !! Wait,wait,wait....I know. I could just not read posts and comments of that sort then I wouldn't have a reaction right?

Knowing that here, and all across the nation, (forget the world for a moment, it's too big ) there are people who would espouse such absolute nonsense causes me an inner turmoil. I don't have to read it or hear it to know it's going on.

Have we not been down a path like this before? I don't mean a President-elect such as this. (please note I do not speak or type his name. It is my own moratorium and anyone going along with that will be extra appreciated).

I mean, what is it with adults who have had plenty of life experience that probably includes being swindled and/or lied to by a friend or in some minor business situation, that they cannot have the clarity to acknowledge that it has happened to them now on a grand scale?

Truly. Thinking that things could improve or might be better somehow? If it didn't anger me I would just laugh at them and tell them they are beyond hilarious.

But the sentiment does anger me even though it is devoid of merit.

Dumber than a box of rocks.

Here's an article about what that man did in Scotland. Apparently, he promised government officials and local residents a whole lot of wonderfulness by building a golf course, then built a wall around it and charged the local residents whose properties were impacted, and then reneged on his promises.
The Scots say that if we want to know what we are in for, we should look at the example of what happened to them.

OTOH - might it be possible to be a little more considered before rushing to a harsh judgement?

Like, who is this? Is it a person who has demonstrated a lack of understanding repeatedly? Or is it someone who normally is not judgemental?

Would it have been possible to ask what they meant by "diversity"? Is it just a poor choice of words?

I keep saying that I like the comment threads as conversation. I may be alone in that view but it leads me to ask whether, in a 3D conversation whether you would just jump on the person as stupid or would you draw them out to determine if there is more to the statement, if they meant something other than the obvious.

(I didn't read the original post carefully but did see the response. Too harsh imo.)

I heard something recently about some left-wing movement killing itself off with petty infighting. Somehow, everything left of center seems to do that as the right groups up and follows lockstep on the goal of their own power, even if it's very, very, very gradual. Let's not fall into the emotional reactions the end inevitably in destructive petty infighting.

Meanwhile, I'm watching Face the Nation recorded last Sunday. Grover Fucking Norquist is on. I'd been feeling pleased that I've seen almost nothing of him throughout this election season. Why did that have to change? Why haven't the democrats done something to discredit him in the most crushing and humiliating way and get rid of him? Why? Someone needs to. dems need to get meaner. Once they're rid of grover they can work on the doughboy - meaning Frank Luntz, of course. ewwww to both. That's where our attacks should be aimed. Not at each other.

nerd cred,

I didn't say it was only one post.

I have asked people to explain and they cannot or will not or cry instead.

It's tiresome and as much to blame for the mess we're in as anything.

This is a small island. Yes in 3D I'd try to find out more also.

Thanks for the dichotomy ; "dems need to get meaner." OK. I will.

Not so sure about that at all. Thanks for reading though.

Boxes don't concern me anywhere near as much as sticking one's head in the sand and believing the lights have just dimmed slightly.
