I can remember how excited I was to see that little red bird in my daughter's backyard. It took a long time to get a snapshot of him and I thought he was the most exotic thing I had ever seen. Then a white bird flew by with a long one feather tail and I was hooked. The birds here are unique and amazing. Even a chicken seems exotic on this island.
I am used to the red birds now. I take lots of things for granted as I go about my Hawaiian days. I have been known to mutter.."I hate Hawaii." but I know that is just me and the toll it takes on me to get settled. I'm old and have seen so much of the world that I am a little jaded. Still this island spins me around and shows me that there are always wonders to record no matter where you are. The birds here are worth noting. Life is worth living. I will adapt just like the birds have and my uniqueness will evolve into a Hawaiian Suzanne that will be totally transformed. It is not an easy process but I can feel it happening.
