If it were you or I then I'm sure we would call "that guy" a racist, misogynistic, bigot.
On the other hand, if you are a Jew in Israel you call him "Chief Rabbi".
Some people might try to blow "that guy" off and say that as a Sephardic rabbi he is just a figure head of a "minor" segment of Israeli Judaism, but they would just be blowing smoke because this misogynistic, racist, bigot is the co-supreme rabbinic and spiritual authority for Judaism in Israel.
What does ^^THAT^^ mean?
Here's the kicker... "that guy" was elected to his position and he still has half of his decade long term left to go!
BTW, It also means that when he finishes his term it is a virtual guarantee that he will assume leadership of the right wing political party that his father started.
So what does that mean to anybody outside of Israel???
It means that a guy, who was elected by the majority of the Israeli people and who has some serious political chops & support is a racist, misogynistic, bigot who is currently "ruling" Israel and has tremendous power over people's human rights.
It means that he not only reflects who and what the majority of Israelis are, but he is in a position to be the equivalent of a modern day Torquemada who can order the arrest, imprisonment and torture of any "non-believers"...
... it means this is a guy who has a HUUUUGE say in just how the BILLIONS of tax dollars that we give to Israel every year are spent.
Think on that for a bit, okay???
P.S. Before you believe anyone who might try to imply that this is simply a hit piece, please note that the content primarily came from a piece written in the "Times of Israel" which is a pretty right-wing publication which has people like the former director of the Mossad on its Editorial Board.
