Ann Coulter Claims Crying Children are Child Actors

Ann Coulter Claims Crying Children are Child Actors:  Conservative pundit Ann Coulter argued on Fox News recently that the kids you see crying at the border on TV are simply "child actors.”  Yea - well, if that’s really the case, I think its time those “child actors” think seriously about firing their agent.

Melania Trump Criticized on Visit to Immigrant Children:  First Lady Melania Trump is taking harsh criticism over her visit to immigrant children while wearing a jacket that had “I really don't care - do you?” written in bold letters on the back.  Good grief, who the hell’s our first lady - Melania Trump or Marie Antoinette?

US Admits No Sign of North Korea Dismantling Nuclear Program:  US defense secretary James Mattis admitted he is unaware of any steps taken by North Korea towards dismantling its nuclear weapons program since the Singapore summit and does not expect any in the immediate future.  I can totally relate!  Hell, I a very similar type of agreement with my mom way back in high school when I promised I’d clean up my room just as soon as I get back from the movies with all my friends.

The Melania jacket is comically tone-deaf, so much so that her husband should have been wearing it.

I have had a theory about Ann Coulter for many years. It’s not a serious theory but it has just an edge of plausibility. My theory is that she is basically Stephen Colbert, not the Late Show Colbert but the Truthiness Colbert. She is so exaggerated that I (flippantly) think she started out using exaggeration figuring everyone would get it, but it turns out conservatives were so far over the top that they didn’t. She literally couldn’t exaggerate enough to lose plausibility. She’d write books saying that Democrats were traitors. She writes that these kids are child actors. How my theory goes is that when she started doing this she started making money, but not from people who appreciated her comedy but instead from people who took her seriously. They’d pick her up at the airport for appearances, they’d treat her nice, their concerns were genuine, and she didn’t want to make fun of the people who befriended her (for the extremely wrong reasons), aside from which as long as the myth held she’d continue to make a very nice living off it.

If I turn out to be right and she ever comes clean, she will be a comedy legend.

Kosh,  your take on Coulter is exactly where I'm at with her...

Bill O'Reilly pretty much admitted that his on camera persona is an act...

I find it difficult to accept the notion that these folks actually believe what they're saying....

The sad, tragic, dangerous, and frightening thing is that there are people who do, and pay close and strict attention to the so- called right wing conservative pseudo-intellectual/pseudo-ideological blathe,r lies, half-truths, inconsistencies, contradictions and all....

If it turns out that Melania didn't mean to be insulting or was unaware of the negative connotations of the "fashion piece", is that somehow better?

Of course. Stupidity is preferable to maliciousness.

The way you're describing about Ann Coulter was once my take on Donald Trump, all through the election process.  I thought the entire campaign was a joke and a secret book deal or perhaps a documentary on fooling the American public - right up until he became president and began implementing policy and stuffing his cabinet and staffing with neo-fascists. As for Melania, I have zero sympathy for gold diggers like her who suddenly develop half a conscience after they feel their wealth is secure in the event of a divorce.

Horse puckey k/s.

If it were not for stupidity we wouldn't be where we are now.

Frankly, I find it difficult to believe stupidity in this issue.  The woman has gazillions of handlers, etc.  Someone had to have pointed out how inappropriate this jacket was for the occasion.  Otherwise, I have no idea what the hell her motive could have been.

I agree Johnny. I was thinking of the supporters.

I've nothing but admiration for 1st Lady Melania Trump and wish her well.
I concur that perhaps her jacket script was not the best decision; albeit now we're discussing the spontaneity of her what? 'street cred' rather than say, the absolute eloquence of Hillary Clinton's address regarding the un-Americanism of separating children from parents.

And sure, Melania should not have detracted from the most serious of government 'over reactions'. Hey, if the 1st Lady can't exercise free speech, what good are we? Perhaps the message 'I don't really care, do you?' was specific to her husband of 13.6 years....

At least Mrs. Trump has the grace and statesmanship to sincerely attempt correcting an egregious, blatantly cruel security 'procedure'.

Recently, SE Wisconsinites (journalists, scholars, people on the bus etc.) have written of and have 'chatted-up' a sociological-psychological profile Q&A known as ACE.: [...(sic) An ACE score is a tally of different types of abuse, neglect, and other hallmarks of a rough childhood. According to the Adverse Childhood Experiences study, the rougher your childhood, the higher your score is likely to be and the higher your risk for later health problems.]*

And holy smoke, let's be sure the families reunite, like, you know, yesterday!
