Why is it that people who don't know any better, don't care to know any better?

Ignorance and indifference are the horns of the democratic dilemma. These people subscribe to the foolish notion that ignorance is bliss. I've spent a great deal of my life in the South, and I can attest that there is lots of ignorance here, but very little bliss. But having been raised in the North, I can also attest that attitude is strong there as well.

I suspect most of these people are ignorant of the source of the oft-misquoted line "ignorance is bliss" (if they're aware of the line at all). The source is Thomas Gray's poem “Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College”, and the actual line is:

“Where ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise.”

Indeed, it is folly to try to reason with a Trumpanzee.

They think they know all they need to know! And they get all wound up and pissed off over things they don't understand and don't know about if it clashes with their cultural biases.
