People reach their center in all sorts of way.  Mine is often through music.  I hope this helps you find yours.

People reach their center in all sorts of way.

To each their own.  LOL

Isn’t this a UU hymn? I attended a UU church for awhile and it seems familiar. That hymnal had some of the best music. No bleeding or suffering or marching into battle. Good stuff.

Here’s a sneak peek at my meditation. Two square inches a day. Everything done except the fish he’s passing to her. I’ll leave it here quietly, so as not to steal attention from Rosi’s lovely smoky sun.

Monkey, they were looking for your center. lol

That is nice, greenheron.  I understand working in sections, but I can't imagine doing it.  Our daughter used to do large murals that way.  Nothing would have matched up had i done it.

Yes, it is a UU hymn.  I'm working with a couple of other musicians on a peace service that we will do in September.  This was one of the pieces.  I think Finlandia is disturbingly beautiful, and the melody stays in your head..  More than that I love the lyrics.

You are right.  No blood, no Christian soldiers marching into war, just an attempt at love, understanding and mutual respect.  "You may say I'm a dreamer.  But I'm not the only one."

Re: working in sections. It's not exactly that. There's a whole underdrawing first. That takes a long time, laying out the elements. Things like eyes lining up with goldfish, the goldfish face lining up with the tip of the female's beak. Doing the under drawing can take several days.

Then I start to lay in the general details. I don't get in there with the needle pointed sharp pencil until the last stage. These efforts do happen in areas, but my saying two square inches is kind of misleading. The beak on the male took a couple days, but it was only the beak I was working on. If it's feathers, I roam all over. After I finish the goldfish, then there will be a day or two of noodling to tie everything together, making sure the lighting is consistent, stuff like that. It's a big drawing, about 18"x24" so the birds are about two or three times life sized. I decided to hold this one back from the exhibit, just too new.

Rodney I loved the UU music. There was a hymnal and there was another book, spiral bound, blue, called singing out (?) I think, UU songs, but also Pete Seeger songs and folk songs. Really lovely music. I used to use that for playing guitar because it also had the chords.

""The man (or woman) who views the world at 50 the same as he  (or she) did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his (or her)  life.”

— Muhammad Ali

As we change so does that place we call the 'center':

Muhammad Ali wasn't just another pretty face.

Thanks for the video.  I haven't heard that song in a very long time.

It's perhaps not strange that over my lifetime my center has come full circle.
