A coming phenomenon I will name R.I.D.

Daily Kos pointed me toward an article about a large Social Security savings under the Republican insurance plan. Three billion dollars. Sounds great, right? This figure comes from the Congressional Budget Office.

So where do you think this savings comes from?

Extra deaths from people who lose coverage.

They calculated this by looking at how many lives the Massachusetts plan saved when implemented and reversing the number.

I have a suggestion. I suggest we name these "Republican Insurance Deaths," or RID's for short, and that we keep a count and keep it public. And of course that we publicize cases we learn about.

Let's hold them accountable.

Bernie's WV town hall was the first time in my time (including the pre-Civil Rights South experience I unfortunately/fortunately had) when I wasn't ready to either laugh at or clobber Red State credulity. WV is a hero state, not a Confederate TRAITOR cesspool, but, nonetheless, I finally saw a group of once divided and conquered Scots-Irish descendants who actually looked both pissed AND organized. Given the incredible low bar for competence in the now disgraced Republican Party it seems impossible complete imbeciles and straight up haters like Iowa's King or pick a fool on your own from the Tejas delegation of Rethugs will be able to pivot effectively here. They may panic and cave, probably will thank Allah, but, the idea they can actually do or say anything of merit is complete absurdity.

I wonder how they'll spin it to blame Obama.

RIDs are just the beginnimg. There is a bill before the House right now which would authorize the use of flesh from the carcasses of the poor and the old and other wilfully useless sorts to be served as meatloaf in federal cafeterias coast to coast. Them wastrels may not have been any use to our society alive, but once dead they oughta be delicious with some mashed potatoes n gravy on the side.

this will help with the RIDs!! they want to defund Meals on Wheels! those greedy old nags. if they would just stop buying those Iphones, they would have money for food!!

If they're successful at this, I'd really start to think seriously about the approach shrinking the Federal Gov't and moving it all to the States somthe States that wanted to could fund Meals On Wheels.

i'm curious if the Meals On Wheels move will get church opposition

Reminds me of the old Ford Pinto rear end collision calculation

This reminds me of another perverse calculation done some years ago. Cannot remember who did it. That calculation purported to show that smoking results in a net savings to society as a result of the shortened life span of smokers.
