A Brief Note to the Baby Boomers Among Us

Under the aegis of the Trump administration, we are becoming the enemy that our parents and great grandparents fought two World Wars to defeat.

Heh.  Makes me even MORE glad to be a GEN-X'er.

Here'is an interesting article about voting trends/populations by generations.  Well worth the read:

https://qz.com/836658/donald-trumps-age-how-baby-boomer-generation-...

I found it interesting that Gen-X votes more than anyone else and that there are more Millennials then the rest of us.

Seeing as how younger Gen-X'er and most all Millennials  have MAJOR issues with both the Democratic Party and the Republicans, I still have to shake my head when I see the new make up of the DNC hierarchy.

WTF are they thinking????

Amy, whether you're aware of it or not, whether you acknowledge it or not, whether you appreciate it or not, a large number of people in the generations preceeding yours, democrats and republicans and independents alike, made unthinkable and unspeakable sacrifices so that you/we can speak, think, and behave as you/we do.

We're still in the throes of trying to sort that out re the social, political, and economic rights and justice we're supposed to be able to seek and share as equals.

Trump and his ilk are doing all that they can to disregard, dirsespect,  degrade, dismantle, disassemble, and deconstruct all that represents the "progress" we've made since the end of the 2nd World War.

If you fervently believe that you and your generation have the insight and wisdom to do better than those of  my generation have done by and for  you, please, by any and all means bring it on.....

it's what we hoped that we had prepared you all to do...

If you don't we should be able to charge Gen X with breach of the promise which is somewhere in the potential that we Baby Boomers worked so diligently to nurture in you.

Get elected to something, make the changes you yearn for, stand for the principles and ideologies you believe will bring you to a better place.

But, PLEASE, cease and desist from the constant and continuous carping, finger pointing,  and name calling. That can't and won't get you and those who follow you anywhere at all.

We all know that you know better than to have permitted a Donald Trump to become President of the United States of America.

However, there's a universe of difference between knowing better and doing better....

The time of the Baby Boomer is at an end....

It's your turn....

You think you can do better because you're supposed to....

We taught you to think and be that way, and we expect, in many respects we deserve, nothing, less from you....

Trump is just the latest in a long line of Lunatic Rightwing Chicken Hawks.

Jesus, egotistical much, Ron?

First of all, I don't think you boomers have done such a slam bam great job of the last 24 years when it comes to improving this country so don't expect a lot of atta boys for Clinton, Bush, Obama or Trump (and the pretty worthless Congress people who were with them).

Secondly, it is close to supreme arrogance to say you taught "me" (or most of GEN-X) anything, other than what NOT to do.  BTW, I know most of what I know from studying it (not from you either) and living it.  Thanks for trying to take credit for that though.  ::roll eyes::

Lastly, who is "we"?  The "we" that got us into/kept us involved in endless war, the "we" that is totally jacking up the environment and climate or the "we" who's greed and shortsightedness gave us two major depressions?

-- I don't think you boomers have done such a slam bam great job

look up who's controlled the 4 branches of the Federal government since Ronnie (the wiki has a neat chart), and you'll see the obvious:  the Lunatic Right has held at least 3 of the 4 that whole time.  the state of the USofA is in their image.

-- Lastly, who is "we"?  The "we" that got us into/kept us involved in endless war, the "we" that is totally jacking up the environment and climate or the "we" who's greed and shortsightedness gave us two major depressions?

unless you understand that all those "we" are of the Lunatic Right class, and not evenly spread across the political spectrum... well you haven't been paying attention.

The generic 'we'  Amy. Your parents , your teachers, your mentors, and counselors many , if not most, of whom are  older than you.

Or do you believe, like so many egocentric others, that you built the house you were born in.

"I don't think you boomers have done such a slam bam great job of the last 24 years when it comes to improving this country..."

Not so much about improving the country as making it possible for you to do so....

Robert Young, the "Boomer" presidencies started with Bill Clinton and will finish with Donald Trump.  Over that time span Democrats have been in office longer then Republicans.  Own your own sh*t, dude.  I have zero respect for Republicans, but have about the same for Democrats.  BOTH parties are at fault and until YOU understand THAT... unless "well you haven't been paying attention." (or are such a biased, brainwashed, koolaid drinker that you mind has frozen)

Nice of you to take credit for all of those generic "we"s, Ron.  Did you get a note from each of them authorizing you to speak for them???
