2 Sentences--Leadership Models' Culture Clash & Consequences of The Vote

Aside from all of the serious policy, character, and personality risks and consequences a Trump presidency would present, what concerns me most about his run is that the man appears wholly unaware that effective national governmental leadership is fundamentally different from the autocratic corporate leadership model he espouses and imagines he can superimpose policy and program by dint of will onto domestic, civil, legislative, and economic life, and foreign relations.

His I'll-Just-Press-This-Button-and-X-Will-Be-Resolved; You-Will-Bend-to-My-Will-or-You're-Gone...his apparent assumptions about governing, along with his almost proud lack of intellectual curiosity, his dismissiveness about how leadership actually works in a shared-responsibility, Constitution-driven nation, is, perhaps, the most dangerous certainty that would follow his breaking the runners' tape at the 270 mark.

So much old video of Trump, for example eviscerating Bush for Iraq, has come out that you can't help but wonder what the hell kind of performance art his current shtick for prez is?

My opinion is he grew up in the old Archie Bunker Queens and simply knows exactly what buttons to press for angry old white dudes ... but this is no game despite how high the stakes are. Billionaires are insulated from nearly all catastrophes so no wonder he appears confident while spewing what he absolutely knows is untrue.

What it does show is a complete lack of empathy.

This reminds me of the New Yorker article by Adam Gopnik that's circulating. It's not new but it's good.

If Trump came to power, there is a decent chance that the American experiment would be over.

he says. We comfort ourselves - or I do, anyway - with our checks and balances and laws and orders but Gopnik takes what may be a more realistic view:

They do not arrive in office and discover, as constitutionalists do, that their capabilities are more limited than they imagined. They arrive, and then make their power as large as they can.

This is an excellent and not too long piece. Read it. Really.

Meanwhile, I'm sending that meme Z commented to my idiot brother.
