I am 41 and my wife is 40. We finally got around to this and we succeeded without any medical assistance (I am a virile sort of guy). After the cell free DNA test, and some other tests, today was the first anatomical check and sonogram. Everything checks out.

It hadn't really hit me previously, but today was the start of some huge emotions. I held my wife's hand and my eyes moistened, and I felt myself tearing up as I saw my baby daughter's face for the first time.

Baby Estelle Margaret Wittmann is due on August 27.

My dad was 41years, 5 months and 11 days old when I was born.

So, here's a toast to virility.

I knew you were expecting, but not a daughter. Mazel tov. I became a father at 39. Not so much earlier.

Congratulations to you and your wife!

Yeah, my parents were older, too, both 45. It brings a different perspective to a child.... a good thing.

May it all go smoothly and easily ~ how exciting for you to have a tiny human gazing at you like you're the world. An experience like no other.

While there may be such a thing as 'too young', I now believe that older is better for all sorts of reasons...

I know some folks who were grand parents by the time they hit 40....They didn't get the parent thing quite right (who can at 16 or 17?) and seemed completely disoriented when their babies started making babies....

I was 21 and the wife was 19 when our one and only arrived...

There still are times when I would like a 'do over' with the set of diagrams and instructions that were missing when parenthood engulfed my existence...

Re virility...It's nothing without fertility...always remember that...

Congratulations to both of you and good fortune to you all....
