Is posting without permitting comment an act of cowardice or a manifestation of arrogance?
Vetting and prescreening comments is one thing, refusal to permit commentary of any kind is something else..
It's usually a mistake and changed with a request, or if it is the standard for a writer, I know it is not a person I would want to engage with anyway.
Newsprint, magazines, TV and radio most often do not include a quick reply option. We got this far without it.
"TV and radio most often do not include a quick reply option."
Not designed or touted as interactive....
Social media platforms are by design and by nature interactive...
There's virtually no other reason for the existence of such platforms....
It is cowardice personified; arrogance Trumpified.
There’s one blogger here, I forget her name, who only posts like that. I don’t Like, I ignore. Cowardice or arrogance? I’d say more cowardice than arrogance.
I’ve done it intentionally once. I saw something I considered antisemitic and saw no reaction. I was in a mood to vent and I did not want to discuss it further. That post was actually Liked a pretty high number of times. Cowardly? I don’t know and at the time I didn’t care, or in the sort of language I used that day I didn’t give a flying fuck. But it is by no means a pattern. If it were, that would indicate something different.
Oh, never mind. The blogger I had in mind just posted, which is what I assume triggered this post.
I’ll change my answer. Arrogance at the assumption people would want to read her without the ability to comment. You’d have to be awfully good for that to work. Your work would have to be worth it. In this case, no.
Gertrude Fucking Stein she is NOT ... there really, truly, is NO there, there ....
Whatever gets you through the night.
Like if thoughts were food.
I would rather enjoy more aphoristic profundity.
Ironic: comments like caskets are better OPEN!
Certainly there most be more to IT than TAPS & APS:}
