Fewer Candidates are Passing the California Bar Exam:  Academics are investigating as to why, for the first time in decades, most law school graduates who take the California bar exam are failing.  Well, that’s not so hard to figure out - they’ve set the bar too high.

Drunk Shoppers Huge Market for Online Companies Like Amazon:  Tech and business newsletter The Hustle surveyed more than 2000 alcohol-drinking adults about their online shopping behavior after imbibing and found that on average, shoppers spend $48 billion or $480 each on items bought while intoxicated.  Yea, like my friend’s aunt, who bought a second cemetery plot - just in case she doesn’t like the view from the first one.

Krispy Kreme and Panera Bread Owners Have Nazi Past:  The billionaire German family who owns a controlling stake in such brands as Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Panera Bread, announced they will donate $11 million to charity after learning that their family members were staunch supporters of Adolf Hitler who benefited by the extensive use of forced labor.  Wow - Krispy Kreme always denied any Nazi links, guess someone found a hole in their story.  Hell, we already knew their donuts have one.

The most difficult aspect of law school is getting in...

Once the student is in, the schools have a stake in the retentention rate, which is much higher than it was in times past...

There was a time when nearly 60% of students admitted would be gone before the 3rd year, with most of that number leaving after the first and most difficult year to navigate and move on toward graduation...

The result is that there are a number of students sitting fot bar exams accross the country who shouldn't be in the exam rooms....

However the JD offers career options not available to the PhD....

Re drunk shoppers...Why do you think most casinos offer gamblers free drinks?

Re the Krispy Keene 11 million...

They'll take a tax write off to soothe their consciences.

I don’t know the recent history of the German family. If they just learned of this it’s an appropriate move. After all, if anyone alive in the family was personally involved, they’d have to be approaching 100 years old and, even if they were, they were probably too young at the time to be calling the family shots.

If this is a PR move because the information just became public it becomes more cynical.

I’m glad retention rate is higher. It’s ridiculous that a school should admit anyone with the intention that they’d fail.

By “ridiculous” I mean morally - it’s quite feasible that this would be intentional.

When I began law school there were lecture hall classes as shown in the clip from the movie "Paper Chase".

I will never forget that my 1st year "Contracts" professor began the 1968 academic year with this admonishment and challenge:

"Look at the student to the left of you.

Now, look at the student to the right of you.

Two of you will not be here in three years  when this class graduates in 1971."

My 1st year Criminal Law professor told us to "never take a case on a contingency basis. Always get paid first...."

Thus began my career in the law...

Kosh, most of the students who don't graduate from law school don't "flunk out".

They quit for a number of reasons. Not the least of which is coming to the realization that they are unprepared for the degree of difficulty and intense academic rigor that law school entails...

In short, many lack the level of commitment required to complete the full three years....

Look at the clip again and pay close attention to the final frames...

Speaking of flunking tests and being a Nazi, lets not forget the "Trumps" faked their name and claimed to be Swedish for the better part of a Century, all while Daddy was actually IN THE KKK.

Dweebs today don't have what it takes to do things like pass the Bar, that's why the recent college entrance bribery scandal is so unsurprising. You got to be tough to do anything meaningful or difficult in this dangerous world, hence the reason there are VERY FEW big wave surfers ... no way most video gaming losers would make it back to shore, drown for sure.

Ron,
I saw the movie. (And I have a cousin who graduated from Harvard Law.)

Maybe those guys who took the SAT’s for those kids are available for Bar Exams. Know anyone rich who wants their kid to be a lawyer?

The most difficult aspect of law school is getting old.
Once a stud is in, the lettermen have a wooden stake in retention 'ratings' (that's why they call Alabama the Crimson Tide), which is why fruit smoothie blenders mite again be the gift of the year, voice activated, hey Mother's Day is Next, yes that was an extraneous possessive and the (WHAT?!) article ought to be or not to be plural...MOTHERS' DADA~I...for the life of me I don't know why shooting a Sheriff is such braggio...non-violent hoot (iknowiknowiknow)....
Comes at time when 85.99nine% of the student body would do all nighters, at last falling asleep, like dreamers do, some yahoo downstairs blaring Summer Wind (that arsewhole with the AOL email...come'on really??) like if I only had the trig I could file the CV with Space Force, aside the ocean LO...neatly typed ayesh...with 'more than several' leaving on a jet plane...save the planet its the only one with Gordon Lightfoot, if the paradigm does knot fit maybe dress up like the captain of the baseball team and pitch Teflon wetsuits (yeah that's IT) O!swell the pounding of the drum, overloaded Paliminoes dragging fresh willow branches, force recall all symphonic instruments, call up the sun LO...
The result is that there are any number of students lying DOA in ambulances who didn't even make it to the emergency room.
However the JD offers rear-admiral options not available to the Blue J PhD.

Why would you use that choice of words to express or say what you wanted to say, asked the voice I'd known.
