In your Facebook photo

you look like you lost something

but don't know what it is.

I don't remember you

looking like that.

Before you moved to

Texas and fell for Trump.

We used to have so much

fun thinking we could

change the world.

But we were younger then

and full of hope.

We were comrades,

soldiers who brought out

the best in each other,

fearless in a way that

fed our souls.

Old friend, you look like

you lost something but

don't know what it is.

I hope it isn't your

your wife, your child

or health.  Your concealed

weapon is another matter.

No, I don't think assault

rifles are guaranteed

under the constitution.

I prefer a country that

promises a chicken in every

pot, not a couple rounds

of ammo.

I hope it isn't your

sense of humor.

I'm sure you look great

in a cowboy hat, but

hope you've not

forgotten we're all waiting

for the eye of the storm.

I'm not so idealistic these

days either.  I've seen

too much.  My dreams aren't

always pleasant.  There's lots

of water falling over the dam.

I don't walk to work like I

used to, but can still

take the train.  I assume

people will continue to love me

when I can no longer sing, but

aren't a hundred per cent sure.

I put up pictures on Facebook

too and try not to let

anyone see the difference in me.

I reminisce more

than I should.  I spend

time looking out

the window and begun

talking to the birds

winging through the

internet skies.

Shoot me.

I hope we meet again

after the nation's nightmare is over.

When there are no more

scores to settle.  When

resentment and entitlement

can be seen for what they are.

When we can smile together.

When we float like

leaves on a day in autumn

in New York.

My old friend, I hope

you find what you

have lost.

Blunt; Crass; Candid - to lose the East Side for tumbleweeds is more than a loss, it is a disaster. But the Irish formed the Five Points, and in five weeks perhaps an O'Rourke will begin the tilling of the Prairies ...

The IRT, how I miss her

I live blocks from the "Five Points."  They've finally cleaned up the blood, and the O'Rourke's have moved to Massapequa.
