I wrote to my Senators about the Kavanaugh nomination. This is from Chuck Schumer’s reply:

In considering a candidate for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court, I have three main criteria: legal excellence, moderation and diversity. Judge Kavanaugh was picked from a list of 25 people who were vetted and approved by the Federalist Society and Heritage Foundation — special interest groups devoted to overturning Roe v. Wade, the court case protecting a woman’s right to choose. These groups have also made it their main mission to strike down the Affordable Care Act. Judge Kavanaugh was nominated because he passed these litmus tests, not because he will be an impartial judge on behalf of all Americans. So, I will oppose his nomination and continue to fight for a bipartisan rejection of this nominee and urge the President to put forth a moderate selection that both parties could support.”

Just in case you can’t tell the difference between a centrist Democrat and a Republican.

Nice work, Stein and Trump Voters- you've made a mockery of the USA, and let Western Europe, and even tiny far flung countries around the world, become the standards bearers for modern living.

Ron,
While I have no issue whatsoever with your question about why in Hell Schumer fast tracked those nominations, I’d still like to know what made you think that the tradeoff involved Israel. Have you heard somewhere that it did?

I'll ask you: For what else would Schummer be returning the favor?

I have no idea. God only knows what kind of deal they made, but this assumption is problematic because it says in essence that the Jew in the Senate can be assumed to have put the interests of another country before those of his own without specific evidence that he has. I’ve seen assumptions along those lines before, not from you and not specifically about Schumer, but I’ve seen the loyalty of American Jews questioned, including my own on this site.

You once taught me about dog whistles. It is a great concept. Antisemitism has its own set. You’ve tripped over one, I assume inadvertently.

And Schumer has one M.

Why is that Obama can get two Lesbians into the Supreme Court who both demonstrated bias that did not favor equal opportunity in favor of racial quotas that were overturned yet President Trump can't be allowed to appoint 2 justices with fucking kooks raising hell in the chambers because the fucking Democrat senators have given them access or the secret service would have stopped them so the Democrats in pure consistence with their false accusations and disruptive approach to dealing with political issues are allowed to try and disturb the proceedings like fucking angry children! Well let me tell you in November the Democrats will further seal their fate as a diminishing force in US politics by virtue of their own incredible stupidity!

Let’s talk about incredible stupidity. In this case I’m referring to your use of the term “Lesbians” in this context. It appears you are using it as an epithet. If the Justices were lesbians, which I don’t think they are, hence my thinking that you’re using the term as an epithet rather than as a description, I fail to see how that would adversely affect their ability to analyze cases. The assumption that it does, or simply the use of the term as an epithet, qualifies as simple and pure bigotry which is not welcome on my blog, is likely to be a TOS violation, and if you don’t watch your ass very carefully will probably get you ejected from this site

which, if you don’t back off on this issue in a hurry, you will deserve.

@Kosh;

"...God only knows what kind of deal they made..."

Again, Schumer's actions appear to be wholly unsupported by a quid pro quo arrangement that benefits Democrats or a Democratic constituency....

Secret deals with the devil are the classic foundations of political demise....

Fast tracking 15 nominations to the federal judiciary is no trivial matter...

I have no assumptions, and none is made by raising the question: Why would Schumer do that . What is he up to?

Reciprocity requires no "deal"...

But Shumer's behavior in this situation can be characterized in such a fashion as to make the optics of his action appear as though a "deal" of some kind  had been struck between him and either the 'Republican' in the White House, or the Republicans in the Senate...

As I said, he needs to explain himself, quickly and thoroughly, because what he's done stinks and smells like the reciprocal component of a quid pro quo or a "deal"...

Putting the interests of Israel ahead of the interests of America may not have been his motive or intent, however putting the interests of Trump ahead of the interests of his party and constituency, and his country may possibly be even worse....

I’m not concerned with accusations against Schumer of making a bad deal with Trump or even a corrupt deal, though at this point it’s speculation. I’m concerned with the assumption that he put the interests of another country over our own as a Jew. That kind of speculation taints a lot more than him.

"I’m concerned with the assumption that he put the interests of another country over our own as a Jew. That kind of speculation taints a lot more than him."

I'm in full agreement. That's one of the reasons why he needs to explain himself, and quickly...

His action has left him wide open and vulnerable to just such speculation...

He should have known and done better...

If the "devil is in the details", perhaps you should write another letter requesting an explanation as a concerned citizen, a concerned constituent, and a concerned Jew...
