My wife and I ate dinner out tonight. For the first time, this restaurant offered to recork our wine and let us take it home. We didn’t want it to spill and it turns out it fit in our cupholder.

I was a bit nervous about open carry laws. If we were pulled over for any reason, the wine bottle was awfully conspicuous. But then we took a closer look at the bag the restaurant put it it.

The bag is sealed. There’s no way to drink in the car without breaking the seal.

Cool idea.

That’s one thing I don’t forget. The most important lesson I can teach anyone when it comes to teaching or persuading is to pay close attention to assumptions. It’s often more useful to address assumptions than to address direct questions because people often don’t know what to ask to get at what they really want to know - there are too many pieces missing when formulating the questions.

When reminiscing old Mauians laugh and laugh with each other about how you wouldn't think about taking a drive of any duration without bringing a beverage- I am talking about nearly everyone, though, that did not amount to very many people, no traffic back in the day. Now, I can't imagine, even though I rarely touch the stuff, the idea of an open container. And neither can the Police, who place convenient roadblocks all over in a roving pattern and catch people all night every night. Keeps the judges busy, the lawyers flush, and the occasional tourist who gets sloppy also gets two trips out of the vacation, the second for sentencing.
