...but I also felt sympathy for the baker.

If you do then that is your straight privilege showing.  I, as a lesbian, have fucking zero sympathy for anyone who CHOOSES discriminate against me or mine because they believe that I am somehow "sinful". unclean, evil, whatthefuckever because of the orientation I was born with.

Same goes for being okay with that whole "but with time society changes and people change" thing.  If you were a lesbian I somehow doubt you'd feel as much patience.

The privilege thing is another way of saying you cant be bothered thinking outside your own box. Its ok when you're having a conversation with someone agreeing w you but it adds nothing to dialoging with anyone who thinks differently.

since youre making it personal - youre assuming I am only capable of feeling compassion for one side.  youre wrong. You may not like the way I think but that doesnt make you right or me wrong.

In fact your point just made my point for me. You think because the couple was right the baker was wrong. His argument was wrong but religion isn't logic and it isnt right or wrong. Its faith and its rules are the laws of faith.. And thats the wall surrounding these people and flinging yourself at them by insulting instead of dialoguing is as dumb as the baker who wouldnt bake a wedding cake for two people in love. two points of view refusing to acknowledge one another.

I get your impatience and even your anger, but anger escalates anger and creates stalemates at best and is ultimately counter productive.

Insulting me is below both of us. youre angry I don't think precisely as you'd like.  Even while I know you know better of me. Ill say no more.

There's a world of difference between "religious beliefs" and religious justification for non-religious beliefs.

There's also a world of difference between religious belief and religious practice.

Operating a business that's open to the public should not be seen as an article of religious faith or a tenet of the practice of religion.

There isn't a scintilla of evidence in either the Old or New Testaments that gives credibility to the notion that bigotry of any kind is an article of RELIGIOUS FAITH or belief.

The court was wrong in allowing the 1st Amendment to be used as a shield 're the violation of anyone's right to equal treatment....

The interstate commerce clause has long been the hook that the court has used to hang its jurisprudential hat on in cases involving discriminatory practices of business open to the public...

There's plenty of Biblical material 're the relationship between men and women...

Few volumes are more sexist than the Bible...

Suppose the baker decided not to bake a cake for a couple because the woman ordered it and his "religion" prevented him from entering into contracts with women?

Then what?

Yep the LGBTQ will sell you anything! That's for sure non-gender public bathrooms so freaks can take photos of undressed women or little girls, so assholes wearing wigs and revealing their genitals can go into girls locker rooms and display their junk, so sodomites who want birthday cakes can put elderly Christian couples in bakeries out of business with a good hefty fine from biased leftist bureaucrats to boot! Oh, and so girls and boys can surgically mutilate themselves and take hormones before they're even adults or have sought counseling! Yep the LGBTQ will sell you anything!
