Hope Hicks and the Dark Triad (Prequel to the Temple of Doom)

Hope Hicks has had a meteoric rise within the Trump organization. Now, she is in a precarious position because of relationship with one of the men close to Donald Trump.
Who is Hope Hicks, how did she make this rise to fame and notoriety, and how has her position been compromised?

Hope Hicks is a 29 year old Communications and Public Relations consultant. She attended Southern Methodist University, but she has been steeped in the field of public relations since birth. Two grandfathers and both parents have had careers in public relations. Additionally, she has had “contacts”. Greenwich, Connecticut where she grew up is hedge fund central. Her first contact in the Trump family was Ivanka Trump, with whom she worked on promoting Ivanka’s clothing line. From there she went to the political campaign where she has apparently done everything from writing copy to taking tweet dictation.

What Hope has done well is stay in the background. This video illustrates her reticence to steal the limelight.

Is this because she is shy, as Donald Trump claims, or does she understand the constant hazard of contradicting Donald Trump involved in personal statements?

Most of us did not know who Hope Hicks was until it became known that she had a relationship with Rob Porter, Trump’s strategy advisor, when photographs were circulated of Porter’s second wife, allegedly following a beating by Porter.

It then became public knowledge that Porter had not been able to get a permanent security clearance because of a restraining order taken out by his second wife after he refused to leave her apartment and broke the glass out of the door with his fist.

Porter has reportedly abused both wives, verbally, emotionally, and physically, and called his second wife a f**king b**ch on their honeymoon.

Could Hope Hicks possibly not know about his history?

She may and for reasons that have to do with the human psyche ignored them.
Here is Darcy’s cartoon about Hope’s valentine to Porter:

Rob Porter and David Sorenson (the second person in the white house to suddenly resign following revelations of domestic abuse) both exhibit behavioral traits that suggest that they have the “Dark Triad” personality, as does their former boss, Donald Trump.
Psychological research has shown that abusive spouses – most are men, but they may be women – exhibit a triad of personality traits; narcissism, psychopathy and Machiavellianism. In popular parlance such men are called “bad boys”. Women find them attractive until they are not. In a study in which they constructed characters exhibiting “Dark Triad” traits and a control personality. The women taking the test preferred the character displaying the Dark Triad.

What is the Dark Triad and how is it manifest?

Narcissism is marked by dominance, a sense of entitlement, and a grandiose self-image.
Psychopathy is manifest by callousness, lack of empathy and erratic anti-social behavior.
Machiavellianism is marked by insincerity, duplicity and extraversion. Manipulative behavior is characteristic.

Individuals with the Dark Triad are fairly common in society, and one of the reasons put forth is that their behavior promotes short-term attractiveness, success in mating and non-monogamous relationships.

Rob Porter and David Sorensen each have records of domestic abuse allegations. Corey Lewandowsky, a former Trump aide has been charged with sexual harassment by a singer at a party. The singer said he slapped her on the bottom hard enough to leave a bruise elsewhere. She told him to stop or she would bring charges to which told her, ““Go ahead, I work in the private sector” before slapping her a second time. This version of events has been confirmed by another person who attended the party.

Apparently, Trump likes to surround himself with other creeps.

A Durham, England research team suggested that women are torn by two desires. On one hand they want a caring, sensitive man for a mate, and at the same time they are attracted to “bad boys” for short term relationships.
Also, the research group was composed of undergraduate students who are less mature, and who tend to look for short term sexual relationships.

The problem, of course, is that those men with the Dark Triad tend to be abusive, controlling and possessive and breaking off a relationship with one of them is difficult and hazardous.

Maybe the fact that Hope Hicks is only 29 and therefore somewhat immature plays a factor in her relationship with a two time wife abuser. Narcissistic, psychopathic, Machiavellian men are often in positions of wealth and power and that is attractive in itself to many women. Maybe Hope just likes playing with fire.

I've written that I believe she may be Trump's mistress.  Michael Wolff said on Bill Mahr that he there was mention in his book of a woman trump may be having an affair with and for some unknown reason everyone latched on to nikki haley, which seemed to me to be absurd.  She's not the glamor girl type and with trump, if you're not glam, you don't exist.

every woman who sets foot in the white house gets "the treatment".  jeeze, they put sara huckabee through every conceivable look, including giant black eyelashes that only emphasized her lazy eye, and I don't know what they're doing to kellyann conway, but she' gets weirder and more infantilized looking by the week.  I expect at some point, to see her trotted out in a onesie.

hope hicks is his fall back and I think his sometimes mistress.  reading the book, only confirmed my gut feeling about her.

in fire and fury - you get a sense that her life, her entire being is dedicated not just to trump but to his complete success - so I think, if it was called for she would screw whoever (or say she did), if this is what "the boss" wants or needs.  my saying this may not be PC but this isn't a woman supporting woman thing - this is a dysfunctional relationship thing and there was something about the way she looks at him and how he refers to her that I initially picked up on...there's something with them that's very intimate.

one thing you can be assured of with trump - he uses every woman in his life on a very intense level - when they trust him implicitly and unquestioningly, only then does he trust them to use them.

FM in several sources zHope was referred to as Trump’s real daughter. Considering the creepy way Ttump takked about his own daughter you may be on to something.

How did some of you miss Nikki Haley's past? Yeah, she is doing Trump, yech, but, she is such a freak I imagine there is some power line in it she actually digs, or, maybe it is just considered part of the job for her ... but that wouldn't explain her past herstory of sex with subordinates. That said, women ought to be able to slam anyone they want, if they actually really want to. Just not in the Oval Office or UN ...

Given what Haley accomplished damned near overnight with the Confederate flag and statues, she’s not on my shit list these days. That was pretty close to a miracle.

I give her credit for that, but, how could a person of color in a major position of power in the South, whose background is from a country completely devastated by legal slavery and colonialism, not be against FAKE LIES AND WHITEWASHED REVISION in the form of metal and stone placed all over towns and cities, in particular in public parks for all citizens and public buildings housing the government she purported to be in charge of. I give her that, I just don't understand how there was any other legitimate decision and to say it was long overdue is one hundred fifty years late, and that is tardy by any standard.

Bottom line, she is in waaaaaaaay over her head at the UN, and, despite that, she is actually probably our current best qualified standard bearer. It is nothing to be proud be proud of, the bar has simply been set that low.

Now, I don't care about her being oversexed. I am myself. I care about how she is using it within the power structure, though, while it is wrong either way, she does it in a more typical male model style and in a way I admire her for that. Like I said, she can bang anyone she wants, just not in the White House or the United Nations.

Also, I hate Bill Clinton for doing what he did, so similar yet so different, and if I could would like to give him a solid left hook for first the original sins, then Lewinsky, and then basically contributing yugely to Hillary's loss (twice, mr. first black president got racial with Obama the first time, then screwed up everything for Hillary with his little visit on the tarmac with the DA among other major screw ups) and I wold follow that hook with a right to the solar plexus and a snap kick to that big mouth of his, seemingly in a perpetual smirk now that he's done with it all and we are stuck with the shit.

Maui,
My answer to you about Haley is that there is a huge difference between “should be” and “is” and that “is” is the one we have to deal with most. Sure, the Confederate thing was way, way late and is still incomplete, but the fact remains that one day it was legitimate and prevalent and suddenly it wasn’t, and she is why. When everyone is wrong, sometimes you do get a medal for doing right, as pathetic as that may be. What she did was not without risk, not by a long shot, and I doubt she viewed herself as having anything political to gain by taking that stand. I think she just saw her friend get murdered and said Enough. I’m done with this. Fuck it, it’s time.

To use a more extreme example, the same argument can be made about Lincoln ending slavery. “I just don’t understand how there was any more legitimate decision and to say it was long overdue is one hundred and fifty years late, and that is tardy by any standard.” That would be a completely legitimate point, yet we celebrate his birthday.

Nikki Haley was one of the better S. Carolina governors. After the dildo who “went hiking in Argentina” and was AWOL from office she didn’t have big shoes to fill. As to Clinton and Monica, I don’t care where they did it, as long as they were getting the job done. Lying was a bigger issue. Bill has been a womanizer for as far back as I was aware. He broke up the neighbor’s marriage when we lived in L.R.

Somehow, that behavior seems different from domestic abuse.

Comment by Ron Powell on February 13, 2018 at 8:32pm

When monogamy is the gold standard of interpersonal intimacy, 'cheating' is considered to be a form of abuse.

The psychological and emotional impact on the so-called non cheating spouse or partner is  perceived to be as devastating and painful as the scars and bruises that result from physical violence and abuse.

Grounds for divorce without the need for photos, police reports, or medical records....

Ron and Kosh ... both correct again: Ron, Haley is famous for cheating on her husband. One rumor this is not, a long herstory is what is well known. Can I prove it? Hell no, but I still know for damn sure she has NO BUSINESS representing this country to the world on E. 42nd st. Her "speeches" have been an embarrassment to the whole USA, and the idea that she is "tough" and can back up the rhetoric is laughable. In all, as I said, she is is in so far over her head and yet the bar is so low it hardly matters.

Kosh- just face it, William Buckley, a Southerner, the FATHER of this disgusting theme of so called modern conservatism, said himself, "American Politics is the REVENGE of the South for losing the Civil War." it just can't be said more clearly by anyone who knew any better. To pull in Lincoln, who often gets criticized as not actually being against slavery, well, his Honest Abe quote is, "Let anyone for it have it practiced on them."

If you think I am this pissed off about what happens in the lower 48 it is because by STEALING Pearl Harbor you all put US in the position of getting nuked by Little Rocket Boy and lots of other threats not to mention Russian submarines circling round our surf spots all the time ... If you get bored check out Clinton's apology to Hawaii, it was the only time the US Marines were used illegally by their own definition of terms, tells you how important the only deep water port in the entire Pacific actually is, and how bad the Russians and Japanese wanted it. Anyway, he admits it, to a point, enough to prove that laws were broken, again: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apology_Resolution
