I just got a call from Kansas City. My brother, Steve, known here as tr ig, passed away this afternoon from a heart attack. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him, including Jenny, his son Eli, and myself.

@tr ig;  We spent the better part of our formative years on the brink of nuclear extinction while the world's nuclear powers played 'word games' .

Back then the 'word games' were known as the 'cold war'.

You have my condolences.

He will be missed.

Your brother has been central to this community for as long as I've known him online, which is probably about seven years. He was one of the most consistently sensible, grounded, and honest people I knew here.

I don't know what to say that will give you any comfort. My vocabulary isn't up to that task. I'm not sure anyone's is. We'll write about him in terms of our own loss but yours is so much greater, and ours is major.

I can't ... I just cannot take this in.  Nana, I'm so sorry.  I am stunned.  I loved Steve.  Jenny.  Eli.  Oh, no!

Best in a very tough time to his loved ones.
