The weather was too cold to garden this week, even to pull the weeds in the strawberry patch which is beginning to grow for this year. I made do with other tasks, though still not accomplishing much with sorting out the house while making some progress. I even got out the clarinet! But tonight, I played in the dirt.
I had a 12" pot full of that Mother-in-law Tongue (snake plant). I've been meaning to separate it out into smaller pots and take it to work to give away but hadn't felt called to do it. I bought ice tea glasses from Walmart to use for pots but something in me wasn't sure it was right. I went to the Dollar General today, though, and stumbled across some 6" pots that were 2/ $1 so I bought 6 pots. It was fun unpotting the big mass of plants, I had to lay the pot down to slide the clump of roots out and then I found a weak spot and basically unrolled it. I found it funny because I've never had that happen before, just unroll a big clump of plants. Usually you have to cut them apart. I cut open one of my new bags of dirt and got them set up in their new abodes, they are now safely boxed and stowed in my back seat. (My pot wasn't as full as this picture.)
(The cats were just tag teaming my bacon pan.)
I then took the big pot and filled it with new dirt and planted beefsteak tomatoes, anaheim peppers and long eggplants, 3 seeds each. (I don't like the fat eggplants, I like the long slender ones and I couldn't find those plants anywhere last year.) I filled in the spaces with leeks and onions. I've never gotten leeks to grow, so not holding my breath there though I would like to sample a leek and this is the cheapest way to get one. The onions are a bunching variety so I would love if they would grow. I then covered all of those seeds with a very light soil and used a squirt bottle to moisten the soil and set it into place. Next will be to weed out my big outside pots and plant radishes.
I also joined higi today. I think it will be fun if I fully participate and I think I can now, my other persona on Facebook is out there having a good time on the astrology page; she hasn't made friends off of the page because I don't want to get bogged down in anyone's politics. I can keep the higi about the weight loss, no drama. I have too much to do for myself.
This is my time. Reading my blogs, it may seem as though my entire online history has been about me, but it hasn't. It has been about me trying to figure out how to get people to like me. What can I change, where am I doing it wrong, why doesn't anyone want to hang with me? My blogs have been about everyone but me. Now, it is time for me. To hell with everyone else. I keep seeing things that I want to do and clothes that I want to wear and just so many things that I don't do because I am afraid of how I will be perceived.
And I just found these awesome tents when I was looking for the stretchy pants I saw on Facebook.
Don't be surprised if your imagination is taking you to new places this weekend, the equinox is Monday and Saturn is going to retrograde at the galactic center point while it is exactly conjunct the moon (27º 34' Sagittarius), it's time to break out of your traditions and go for it.
Have fun out there.
