Hello all,
Got an email the other day from Amazon promoting their Kindle site called Writeon.
It has some of the features of Open/Our, but claims to be a site where writers can try out and get input on their work. I put up a well worn chestnut from OS - "Chaneling Sinatra"- just to see what would happen. Not much yet, except an invite to submit for Weekend Fiction. wonder where they got that idea. Any of you on there? what do you think? Let me know and I will look you up and comment. I like the cover design feature.

If I can manage to self publish and steer clear of Amazon, that's the path I'm going to take.  I can't see much point in sharing revenues with that monster while having no tangible benefit in the ocean of self published literature on that site.

I don't know anything about that Site - but when I wrote my own: "Chaneling Gerald" - all I got was "Do be do be do"!  My last one was about Frankie - check it out?

jmac - hard to believe anything connected remotely with Kindle will let you steer clear of Amazon. Even library books I take out from the public library, if in Kindle format they go through Amazon, acting like I bought a book. I bought both John Guzlowski's and David McCain's books in Kindle format. They should know how Amazon is for authors.

Jmac: I know. Jeff Bezoz is a wolf in wolf's clothing.
Marilyn: I did, and commented.
Nerd: I like that library program. Just don't get anything you can't read in two weeks because Amazon takes it away and tries to sell you the book.
Keiko: I will check out the lay of the land and report back. It seems like they are trying to develop a writer's community like OS. For example, I have been invited to participate in Weekend Fiction. I have a bunch of short stories sitting on my computer doing nothing. I may as well put them out there. Are you sure you didn't create an account and forget? I do that all the time and it can be hard to fix.

I am wary of the big blogging platforms after being with Open.  I like this little fish pond here.  Keep us posted and I hope you cross post here as we need you.

I will definitely cross post. I don't see Writeon as a replacement for Our, but rather a different line to hang my laundry.

First of all, it's great to see you posting again!  Yay!  Second, I haven't heard of this site, but I can't believe they stole our Weekend Fiction idea! :-)

Writeon sounds like fun - I'll definitely be checking it out. Thanks for spreading the word, and I hope we'll get to see more posts from you here (and there) soon!
