Did you know dolphins discipline their young? And not just the mother. If a youngster is out of line, any of the older dolphins will rake their teeth across his body or give him a good smack with a tail.

Dolphins are like humans in other ways, we know. They are sociable and intelligent, even without domestication and training. Wild pods have been known to protect lost swimmers from sharks. It is believed they circle and protect their young in much the same way.

Facebook Fasting

We never really got along, Facebook and I. Organizing Your World

In an apartment there is a small child. This is no typical apartment and this is no typical child. The child first gathers the strength to sit up from her mat and focus on what is around her. There are stacks of paper which tower above her lining the walls of this space, far out of reach. Near where she sits, there are bundles of soft things surrounding her, as is preferred for her age.

My First Love

My first love was a girl. Do I call it love? Admiration, certainly. Respect, yes. An aching desire to know anything I could about her—emphatically so. But at the time, love was the stuff of songs and storybooks and I did not yet know the magic.
