Autism's Inconvenient Truth

A couple weeks ago I received the report from the school district’s diagnostic team regarding my three year old’s “condition”. Nothing in the report surprised me except for the fact that the description of my daughter’s mannerisms, which have impaired her ability to integrate into her day care classes, was also a description of myself at three years old. No, really, that didn't surprise me either.

What IS your PROBLEM with Rich People?!

The question hung in the air as I had been called out by my young, educated, and apparently conservative co-worker. He sounded as if I may have insulted his peeps. Well this answers it--I knew there was a sound reason I wasn’t attracted to his quintessential good looks. Seemed I struck a nerve with my most recent diatribe—a habit I have with people, to which I’m becoming accustomed.
