...on the passing of james

James Mark Emmerling was one of the truly great people of OS, as a poet, as a writer, and as a Gentle and Honorable man.

He will be sorely missed.

State of the Union

The president lives in a different world than I do... and about 50% of his constituents see the world more as i do, than he does. I'm glad he noticed that the nation is more polarised, more filled with Hate, than when he took over, promising to unify us. It was a sad little speech, not mentioning the real threat  of terrorism in America, performed by followers of an Ideology he will not name. Preferring instead to whine about "Gun Violence"... I'm sure he would like to characterise the whole…

Trig and me- an open letter

This was my reply to a pm query from a friend as to what I hoped to "accomplish" by "bugging" tr ig"

What I have accomplished so far is to file complaints which set in motion the machinery to have him charged with issuing threats of bodily harm and murder in interstate communication ( same as if he did them by phone... not quite the same as if he did them by mail, but close) and  with conspiracy to assault, and conspiracy to…

perspective on "African Americans" obtaining guns and it's fear factor for "fat ,old, White Men" Plus "Adrian" a story by Saki

You make a lot of assumptions based on stereotype. The "African American" population in the city I live in, Fairborn, Ohio, is largely mixed race, like my major domo ( upgraded from merely doing yardwork, he is a trump fan, but mainly he realises the utter disaster represented by a Hillary presidency. I will refer to him as "Adrian" because that is not his name (i decided to use it based on a favorite writer's story that I recently reread…

WHY Obama's new “Gun restrictions” will contribute to additional gun violence

It's really very simple, there's a market for guns. Obama's restrictions will only impact those who have used guns to sell. The manufacturers are delighted with this action, now people who would have bought a used gun will go to a dealer and buy a new one.

On the other hand, people who enjoy working on, collecting, and shooting different guns, will now be in…

Smith and Wesson and Sturm Ruger stock both up over 900% since beginning of Obama presidency.

Industry thanks him for efforts to prevent sales of Used Guns, making purchase of personal protection for law abiding poor much more difficult......

Of course the criminals will continue to buy their guns on the street, same place they buy drugs.....

Recent comment on Jmac's Blog:

As usual, great post... your take on BB is pretty much my experience as well.

I just discovered yesterday that my Yardman is African American.... he came over yesterday and helped me change a tire, and we got to talking politics.... He's a HUGE Trump fan ( as are the rest of his family) and it occurred to me to ask wait wait, It's none of my business and I've known you since you used to hang around here as a kid, but didn't you go to central…
