Views from my Hammock

Lovely Hammock weather here.  I like to spend some time every day swinging in the shade of the palm trees and just being hugged by my hammock while the shadows flicker over my legs.  It is a good place to be sad and just let the world go by.

On the other hand my hammock can turn on me and flip me upside down.  My granddaughter loves to swing in…

Mechanical Failure

Things explode.  I am intrigued by the wreckage of the Egyptian Air Plane.  So sad to see all the debris collected and put in lines in the field where it crashed.  They are trying to figure out if it was a bomb or Mechanical Failure.  I know Trump was betting on terrorism right from the start.  It is interesting to try and figure out the cause of…

Love Smove.

Looking for love.  I sat under this tree and tried to understand where I have gone wrong.  All the twig words surrounded me and I sat there stumped about love.  Then I stood up and walked out of the circle.  I felt a release from love as a claustrophobic element and went into a world where love is everywhere.  I didnt have to try to contain it or even understand it.  I didnt have to seek it.

This is a far cry from how…

Hawaii Water

Living on an active volcano is interesting.  We get our water from a catchment system but get drinking water from spickets at the transfer stations...which is another word for dump.  All the people do their own garbage and I am tired of the drudgery of going there and dumping in the mess.  They try to keep it nice but where I am it gets overwhelmed quickly.…

Motorcycles and Other Delights

Three people arrived at the beach on these beauties.  They were so excited to see the dolphins out in the bay and ran into the water...She had a tiny little bikini and the two guys wore shorts...They put on their snorkle masks and took off....I was watching the butterflies and all the other people at the beach, including three tour boats of snorklers.…

This lovely picture is to counterbalance this post on SYOS....shoveling your own shit.

A fellow I knew had a story he loved to tell about a neighbor lady who had a stable and was always trying to get him to come over and clean up the mess all the animals there made.  He would tell her no and every time he told the story he would…

Twists and Turns

I have been wondering why the Ohia trees are so twisty.  The wind?  Heredity?  Seeking the sun? Fun?  I just love how the limbs dance and turn around each other.  Ohia Hula.

Then I can find two Ohia trees next to…

No Answers

I drove through the tall trees, past the coffee fields and found the sweet little Tibetan Temple that I had been looking for.  It was so peaceful.…

Spoiled Rotten

I was spoiled as an only child.  Spoiled rotten by a controlling mother in the fifties who wanted it all....a clean house and a well behaved child.  She stole a part of my soul.  Now I have a grandkid who is spoiled too but I think she is more traumatized than spoiled.  She is a momma's girl.  "I want my mama.....sob sob. "   I just got back from a field…

Im back online after getting a new mouse and so thankful for being able to share the vision I saw of a whole tree full of bees.  Ohia trees must really be potent as the humming was intense and the bees were luxuriating in the red blossoms.  I didnt have anyone to share the sight with and I am beginning to understand what this getting older stuff is all…

Compassion VS Enabling

The term 'enable' makes some people think they cant show compassion and help others.  However to enable is a very slippery slope.  In avoiding pain we tend to sugar coat the hard stuff and give people an infinite number of chances.  I have come to respect the term 'enable' and I try to let others hang the metaphoric sense of…

Ohia Trees

The cabin in Ocean View is surrounded by Ohia trees.  The Hawaiians say they were the first trees here on the islands and they are holy.   I just like how curvy and saucy they are.  They make me smile and that is an important thing these days when I am in danger of turning into a grumpy old woman.…

The Fat Butterfly

I found a butterfly by the side of the road that had been killed by a car.  I made sure it was completely dead and mourned the loss to the world of this beautiful creature.  So fragile and yet so tough.  I pinned the wings open and studied the markings.  There are some beautiful butterflies in Hawaii.

I got out my paints, all set to record the…

Seized Up Generator

My universe has imploded and one of the messes was the generator.  I rode it hard and put it away wet about three weeks ago and when the girls went to start it on a cloudy morning after a day of doing wash it wouldnt pull.  I finally got the pull starter off and it worked fine.  It is just that the crank shaft wont spin.  Stuck.  Maybe a little corroded.

I have had all sorts of advice on how to care for small engines now but it is too late.  I feel like that with my body too.…

Restraining Order

For two weeks the ex boyfriend and father of Miss Five has to stay away.  He dropped out of college, lost his apartment and had been eating green mangoes for three days when he met them up by the school where my daughter teaches and convinced her to give him a ride.   I hope that is the last time she ever does that but he is needy and manipulative.

I want to go into the details about how abusive he has been the last seven years and how this ride ended up at the police station but it…
