31 days of my stuff, the first three days.

My latest 31 day project involves documenting the items laying around my house that actually mean something to me. Every day I plan to take a photograph and write a brief description of the object. In order for the project to end on the 31st I am posing the first three  today. The next time I post will be a full weeks worth of stuff.

October 1st

When I was a kid my father worked road construction. This meant that the summer was his busy season;…

31 days of my stuff

For the past two months I have been giving myself a month long project. I spent August entering on line sweepstakes and September losing weight. So what should I do for October? I thought about it for a while and then I decided to do a photo project. But what would it be about, and then I figured it out.

Many years ago my uncle’s sister died, uncle by marriage by the way, she was a widow and had no children. Her relatives went through her house and took what they wanted, family…

31 days of Sweepstakes, A September update

In August I did an experiment where I went to the Google search engine every day and typed in the word “sweepstakes”. I entered every legitimate contest that came up on the first ten pages. I then sat back and waited for the results. The problem was that most of the contests ran well beyond the end of the month so I had to wait for the results. I decided that I would do a monthly update and so here are the results for the contests that put out their notifications in September.

In…

202 pounds, the 30 day challenge Week III and IV

A quick note. I discovered that I forgot to post the third week's log of my diet. I guess the exhaustion made me loopy, if you read this you'll see why. So I decided to just post both weeks together, sorry for the length.

September 17

Tire day, along with a new battery and new headlights I also had to get new tires for my truck, everything always seems to happen at once. However I figure if I do about $700.00 in…

202 pounds, the 30 day challenge Week II

September 10

The good thing about a weekly weigh in that every week is a new start. Today I am at 200 pounds and this is where I’m counting from. Last week is ancient history and I’ve already moved on.

Last week I was trying to adjust from giving up caffeine and I had trouble waking up. Today I woke up at 8 and was able to go for a walk, I have to go to work at noon today so when I woke up at 10 last week I was already behind. Speaking of walking I was…

202 pounds, the 30 day challenge

Have you ever seen those commercials for the miracle diet pills or dining plans? They are always boasting the results but if you don’t look at the fine print you won’t notice that it includes a diet and exercise program. Rumor has it that they hire models, shoot the “after” photos first and then the person goes off their exercise routine, gets fat and then they shoot the “before” photos, but I have no proof of that. The question is, can you get the same results without the…

31 days of Sweepstakes, The Last Three Days

After four weeks of entering contests it has finally come down to the last three days. The experiment has become dull and repetitive and I will be glad when I am done. Although I may miss the daily routine, I've gotten to where I know which pages to go to and how the entry forms are laid out. But I'm pretty sure I will get over the drudgery rather quickly.

31 days of Sweepstakes, Week Four

The experiment has become monotonous, most of the time I go to the same pages and fill out the same information. The excitement and hopes of the early days has worn off and now I’m just looking forward to being done. I don’t even care if I win anything anymore. But just 10 more days to go.

31 days of Sweepstakes, Week Three

Welcome to the half way point. The experiment has gotten kind of dull, most of the sweepstakes are daily entrances so it’s a matter of going to the web site, hitting the auto fill. I won’t know the results of most of the contests for a long time; in fact one doesn’t end until April of 2016. I have to keep saying that I got myself into this and have to see it through, and I only have 17 days of entries left.

August…

31 days of Sweepstakes, Week Two

If you missed week one here’s a quick summary. I decided to do an experiment to see what would happen if I entered legitimate sweepstakes on the first 10 pages of Google every day in August, except for those aimed at women, children or offered. I would stick to the sweepstakes that were “fill out the form and hit enter”, if I was required to subscribe to, download, or buy a product to get an access code I would pass on them. If I did buy something or came across a contest on the internet…

31 days of Sweepstakes, Week One

Years ago I decided to do an experiment, I was going to enter on line contests and see if I could win something. I went through several sites and entered various sweepstakes but I after a while I got bored and I didn’t really keep track. I think I won a t shirt or a beach towel but I couldn’t be sure. So, a week ago someone linked to this video: https://youtu.be/nXAfWpNLocY I watched it and decided to redo my experiment.

In order to do a…

Why is it every time.....

Have you ever set your pen down and when you went to pick it up it was gone. You look all over for it and when you finally get a new one there is the missing pen, right next to where you were working. Then you say, “Why is it every time I set my pen down it disappears?” Of course it doesn’t really happen every time, in fact you pick up your pen so often it become routine and you don’t really pay attention. Then, the one time you can’t find it you…
