When I was a kid my favorite movie was Winnie The Pooh and the Honey Tree, however it was the pre VCR era so the only time you got to see Disney movies was either during their theatrical release or when they came on The Wonderful World of Disney. However you could buy the soundtrack.
So, one year for my birthday I got a copy of the sound track and I played the record all the time. My parents probably got sick of hearing it but I…Continue
My grandmother’s birthday was coming up and my mother decided we, my siblings and I, should send her a present. At the store I came across a ceramic bust of a small boy, I liked it and thought it would be the perfect gift. My mother tried to talk me out of it but I was stubborn and insisted that this was the gift I wanted to send.
A few days later my grandmother called to thank us and tell my mother she was so pleased with the bust…Continue
If you go back through my blog you will see where I did an experiment. Every day in August I entered every sweepstakes on the first ten pages of Google, plus any sweepstakes that popped up in the social media. I then kept track of when the contests notified the winners. The last notification for October was made on the 21st so here is an update for the month.
26 contests notified the winners in October, and I didn't win any of them. The total number of contests that have ended since I…Continue
You never forget your first time and like a lot of people mine started at a drive-in movie. I still remember it well.
On warm summer nights my parents would take us to the drive-in theater. We would pop a bag of popcorn, fill a cooler with sodas, a big dill pickle for my sister, and pile in the old Vista Cruiser. We could be our normal rowdy selves and not disturb the other people who had come just to watch the movie. We could even…Continue
When I was about 14 I was going through the typical teenage angst. I didn’t fit in at school, I didn’t know where I was going in life and I felt trapped in my stinky little town (In my previous blog I explained how my family never went on a real vacation).
One day a cartoon came on TV, The Hobbit. I loved the story of a guy who lived in a small village and goes off on an adventure seeking Dwarf gold being horded by a dragon. I found…Continue
My latest 31 day project involves documenting the items laying around my house that actually mean something to me. Every day I plan to take a photograph and write a brief description of the object. In order for the project to end on the 31st I am posing the first three today. The next time I post will be a full weeks worth of stuff.
When I was a kid my father worked road construction. This meant that the summer was his busy season;…Continue
For the past two months I have been giving myself a month long project. I spent August entering on line sweepstakes and September losing weight. So what should I do for October? I thought about it for a while and then I decided to do a photo project. But what would it be about, and then I figured it out.
Many years ago my uncle’s sister died, uncle by marriage by the way, she was a widow and had no children. Her relatives went through her house and took what they wanted, family…Continue
In August I did an experiment where I went to the Google search engine every day and typed in the word “sweepstakes”. I entered every legitimate contest that came up on the first ten pages. I then sat back and waited for the results. The problem was that most of the contests ran well beyond the end of the month so I had to wait for the results. I decided that I would do a monthly update and so here are the results for the contests that put out their notifications in September.
A quick note. I discovered that I forgot to post the third week's log of my diet. I guess the exhaustion made me loopy, if you read this you'll see why. So I decided to just post both weeks together, sorry for the length.
Tire day, along with a new battery and new headlights I also had to get new tires for my truck, everything always seems to happen at once. However I figure if I do about $700.00 in…Continue
