Thomas A. Hendricks was born in Muskingum County Ohio on September 7th 1819. His father John was a farmer and ran a general store. The family moved to Indiana under the advice of if his uncle William Hendricks who was the U.S. Representative and later Governor of the state. My Independent run homework, the twentieth Vice President.

Chester A. Arthur was born in Fairfield Vermont on October 5th, 1829. His father William had been a school teacher but became a Minister and joined the Free Will Baptists, a religious organization opposed to slavery. Chester’s mother was an immigrant from Ireland who had moved to Canada but met William when he visited across the border. William became a traveling preacher and the family moved frequently until they finally settled in Schenectady New York.

My Independent run homework, the ninteenth Vice President.

William A. Wheeler was born in Malone New York on June 30th 1819. His father Almon Wheeler was a successful lawyer but died when William was only eight. His mother took in boards from the Franklin Academy which helped to pay William’s tuition. He studied law at the University of Vermont however financial and health problems forced him to drop out so he never earned a formal degree although he received a number of honorary ones later in life. Henry Wilson (Jeremiah Jones Colbath) was born in Farmington New Hampshire on February 16th, 1812. His father Winthrop had named him Jeremiah after a wealthy neighbor in hopes of an inheritance.
