Campaign Contributions, Benghazi, and Trump's Choices

Why I’m not contributing to national political campaigns so far this year.

Trump says he doesn’t need the money and that his solicitations are to benefit the RNC and locals. I don’t think the RNC has performed particularly well of late, and I don’t know very much about the locals.

McCain had my financial support and did very little with it. So, no good money after bad for him from me.

Gingrich, Giuliani and Christie, fine candidates each, aren’t  yet running or asking,…

A Book Reviewer's Dilemma

A New Book-Reviewing Experience

At least for me.

I recently agreed to review a book because it dealt with a current and important matter. It was also authored by one with a long and distinguished career in his chosen field. The book was up on Amazon, was published for real, and was being promoted by a well known publicity outfit. I approached the project with enthusiasm and the high hope of rendering a favorable review.

I don’t believe any of my own…

Presidential Running Mates

Running “Mates”

Let’s have a look at the mates, both natural and political, attached to today’s presidential occupant and potentials.

Michelle Obama reportedly wore a $1750. dress at a function in a seriously impoverished country. I have no problem with this. Any amount spent to address MO’s south-of-the-border figure issues is money well spent. But why must my email inbox contain daily dietary advice from Oprah Winfrey, a notorious fatty? And while we’re on that…

Scotland: Grow Up!

Scotland Needs To Grow Up

I love Scotland and the Scottish people. They’re the most tolerant drivers one could ever wish for, never honking behind an alien motorist unaccustomed to the steep hills of Edinburgh. The Scottish landscape is gorgeous and the lakes, with or without the Monster, truly beautiful.

Although I consider American-born Bourbon a superior beverage, Scotch clearly has its followers. They also can’t help it if they’re rarely good looking, if…

Obama Helped Brexit Vote

Obama and Cameron—Comrades in Arms

Demonstrating his characteristic innocence of the ways of international politics, Barack Obama made no bones about his support for the Remain policies of David Cameron, the Prime Minister of a country not Obama’s own. Never was support less helpful for Obama’s notorious fondness for putting his country both down and valuable only as a contributor to international well being underscored for British voters precisely what was at stake in…

The New Trump

The New Trump

I have previously supported Donald Trump as the lesser of two evils. I believe that millions of U.S. citizens are doing the same.

However, listening to Trump’s speech today, I believe he has turned the corner from iconoclastic bad boy to serious mainstream candidate.

His tone was measured without any loss of the savagery with which he exposed Hillary Clinton’s epic failures and moral shortfalls. It was, in fact, breathtaking.

More than…

The Power of Hillary's Purse

The Power of Hillary’s Purse

Hillary Clinton is used to being bought, whether through absurd, thinly disguised speaking fees or donations to Clinton sponsored and owned “charitable” foundations. Therefore, it’s only natural she should conclude that her 2016 election to the presidency can be bought as well.

The only problem is the assumption that the American public is as corrupt as she is. Is it just barely possible that that public cannot be…

Obama and His Women

Obama and His Women

While conventional wisdom has it that there is very little difference between the ideological perversions of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, in one area Clinton is a clear winner.

While Obama is taking the family, to which he is clearly captive, for an extended picnic to Yosemite et al., alligators are killing and threatening children and adults in Florida, and gorillas are being killed to defend children elsewhere. And Obama’s response is…

Peaceful Islam?

Permit me to join the chorus of persons who state, “Stop calling Islam a religion of peace.”

It’s a religion all right, to the core. But not of peace. It’s a cult of religious militancy that puts the Crusades in the shade.

Then how do I explain the millions of Muslims, include the many I know and cherish as friends, who are horrified by the actions of their fellow Muslims who commit unimaginable atrocities against women, gays, and “infidels”? Easy.

In their heart of…

Trump Pushes Obama Closer to the Truth

Obama Defends His Word Play

Although my ability to listen to Obama these days is severely limited by stomach contractions, I believe I heard him say today that giving terrorist attacks different names will not cause them to go away.

Bulletin for Obama: The past atrocities cannot go away; they’ve already happened. The question is whether future attacks can be more effectively discouraged by confronting Islam extremism with power, threats, and outrage as opposed to…

I Love Liberals

Having been called "asshole," "stupid fuck," and other equally affectionate names, my characterization of the Orlando savage as a "sand monkey" has caused my comment to be deleted from this august site.

Wonderful! One less left wing defender of free speech to deal with.

Orlando Gays Failed by Pulse, Obama, and Clinton

Orlando Gays Failed by Pulse, Obama, and Clinton

The last clear chance to prevent Sunday’s tragedy at Pulse in Orlando was to keep the shooter out of the club in the first place. Despite the liberal media’s morbidly microscopic coverage of the event, there has been precious little attention given to this simple fact. As an enterprise that earns huge profits by herding innocent gays into confined and concentrated spaces, constituting them tempting targets for a terrorist…

Elizabeth (Minnie HA HA) Warren as VP?

H. Clinton and E. Warren

Conventional wisdom has it that as a U.S presidential candidate transitions from primary victory to general election struggle, extremist appeals to the home base transition to more moderate positions in order to attract the all-important centrist population.

Hillary certainly followed her party line during the primaries. Sanders pushed her so far left that Sanders himself appeared more moderate. But ultimately, the U.S. electorate had the…

Orlando Slaughter

Where Are the Rabid Arms Control Enthusiasts?

It’s been hours since an arms enthusiast killed 20 and injured more in a gay club in the shadow of Florida’s Magic Kingdom. Even though bodies are still inside the club, that’s never before stopped Obama, Clinton, and Warren from issuing their standard screeds about the importance of gun control.

Maybe they are frustrated by…

Romney on Trump

Romney—Trickle Down Treachery

In the course of announcing, to anyone caring enough to listen, that he would not vote for Trump, Romney threw around words like “bigotry” and “racism” with a degree of carelessness that only Leader Ryan can match. The pair must have read the same dictionary in kindergarten featuring mostly pictures. I’ve previously commented upon how Trump’s misguided comments about the judge in his Trump U. lawsuit do not constitute either bigotry or…

Trump As Racist

Trump As Racist

As I’ve said many times before, here and more significantly elsewhere, I’m no fan of Donald Trump as a presidential candidate. Despite an impressive business resume, he has a penchant for making stupid political moves, ranging from the gratuitous remarks about John McCain to the candidate’s grandiose and totally impractical suggestions about how to deal with the very real 3dangers that prior overly permissive immigration policies undeniably present to…

Ali: Another Perspective

It’s odd timing that the publication of my new book, A Hip Pocket Guide to Sports, occurred the day of Mohammed Ali’s demise. The book offers an alternate perspective on his career and sport of choice, summarized below:

“I find it the height of irony that one of the most lionized athletes of our time emerges from the world of boxing. There may be medical facts to the contrary, but the present-day condition of Mohammed (Cassius Clay) Ali is an…

Beauty on the Campaign Trail

Beauty on the Campaign Trail

It’s been a while since we’ve had any. I think you’d have to go back to Jacqueline Kennedy to find a woman who was not disqualified from the title either by age, figure disfigurement, just plain plainness, or all or most of the above.…
