Xenonlit's Blog (10)

Our Google + Group

Google + has groups now. I started one where we can put our blog, book and profile pages up in one place. REaders can join the group to browse and discuss.

I did this because I am sick of putting stuff up all over the web.

When I get enough writers to post their links, I will invite readers for browsing and discussion.

Join us and put your OurSalon and other writing links up. Look to the left under the egghead photo. You will see three categories:

Our…

The Writing Jones and the Barrier to Publishing

After months spent cranking out the equivalent of a large novel, with cranky first results and more satisfying second results, I have come to the conclusion that there is a writer's addiction.

Addiction is a process where the person is intoxicated, is seeking intoxication or is in withdrawal.

My name is Xenonlit and I am a writing addict!

The process was grueling for one reason. It is not the writing. I knew that. It is about finding everything that is wrong with the…

Finished!

I finished my second book today. This time it is a full length novel instead of a novella. Now I must readjust to my regular activities.

Is my book any good? Yes. It continues where the last one left off. It is technically much better than the last one. The proofreading is vastly better. The story holds up to most popular novels that I read. That is all that counts.

The truth is that the first book was a way of getting past the barrier of "I can't do it. It's too complicated!"…

Is it time for America to scream yet?

Anvil Cloud

The concept of "When do we scream?" came up when I was in undergraduate school. We studied the pathways that nations followed when they put charismatic dictators into power. The idea was that we could learn from history and identify the last point where the people can still exert their will to stop the train from derailing. That is the “scream”.

In the past, nations got themselves into states of serious economic decline. For some reason, the…

Much Ado About the Inevitable: CNN Ratings Plummet

CNN has been the premier 24 hour cable news service for decades. The network has had trouble retaining  viewers in the past and is doing so again.

No surprise here, given the lack of editorial leadership combined with a passive-aggressive approach to political reporting that fails to give viewers the meat based protein that they crave.

CNN suffered a 50 percent drop in…

Everything Must Change

I started having a blast on the web when I joined EONS.com. Talk about a site that has everything and you will be talking about EONS. The profile pages are mini websites with hundreds of themes, widgets and privacy levels that can be set to "decimate".

EONS was set up for middle aged and older people, so it does not have broader appeal.

I started a group and  had a blast. I learned how to set up a page, do a blog and advance to HTML and CSS. This was back when we had…
