Flashback - 1973: Romeo and Juliet, 1976: ‘Doc’ Berger & Shakespeare in the Park

Went to a BBQ in Laurel Canyon Sunday, started telling tales and connected these dots, so I thought I'd post them before I forgot them again.

1975: Couch Surfing, the Cowgirl, Gilley’s, Willie Nelson’s Picnic on Acid and “Doc” Salliday

http://www.adoptlondon.com/resources/view/couch-surfer

Couch Surfing… - From 1975 up until some time around 1999, Kevin Crowley and I intermittently crashed on each other’s couches or shared rent as roommates.  Occasionally we worked together and/or found each other work.  We were good friends in fat times and lean.  You’re lucky if you can count your…

1974: Janine & Nelly, Baryshnikov & Janine’s Screwed up Family

https://bowtielaw.wordpress.com/disco stamp

Janine… - Janine was yet another rich girl and like Jude she was attracted to anyone who didn’t give a shit.  Like Jude she was a highly intelligent, well read tomboy with a penchant for masochistic foreplay, except that Janine’s penchant was a solid order of magnitude more intense.  Less than a week after I dropped her off at her family…

1971 - 72: Wrestling, Richard Grey, Ben Casey/Matt Lincoln, Odyssey Workshop

http://www.sven-zellner.de/

Wrestling… - It is plausible that the mock combat wrestling is the oldest sport in human experience.  It actually predates human beings in that it is a behavior common to most simians, canines and felines.  Even certain snakes wrestle in their frenzy to mate.  Wrestling is a relatively harmless way of…

1971 – Still Lost in Time, “Public Insult,” Dirty Books & Polygraphs

Still Lost in Time…:  Things are still get fuzzy for me during this period.  My paid acting gigs became fewer and farther between, but at least I was making better money than SAG minimum.  I remember that I got a small part as a young anti-war terrorist bomb maker on an episode of …

Obituary for Edwin Huntington Parker

This is an obituary I wrote for my friend Edwin Huntington Parker. He was known as Hunter to his friends. I originally submitted this article to the "Philadelphia Daily News".  I was unhappy when the obituary ran in the paper with another writer's name on it and Hunter's name misspelled. The "Daily News" published a correction that said I provided the information. Unfortunately someone could interpret that I provided the misinformation. I am publishing the original obituary…

Stardust

Stardust

By David Glenn Cox

We were stardust once, in the uncounted eons of a fathomless universe, brilliant, but unaware. We were mountains, tall, majestic, forested, but cold and snow covered, until, the winds of time and the tears of Earth washed us away and we were the sea floor, but only for a…

1969 – Opening Night, Standing Ovation but No Curtain Call, Rave Reviews and "The Chipmunk".

Opening Night…:  As I remember there were no open previews of THE SERPENT, rather we came to consensus that the production was as ready for an audience as it would ever be.  So at 7:30pm on the first Thursday of October in 1969, the audience began entering from the tiny lobby into our little storefront black box theater each…
