I went to the shoe store looking for new grey boots.  I was greeted by someone whose energy almost knocked me over.  He was so HAPPY.

"Hi, and how are you today?  Isn't it a wonderful day, and especially now that I am seeing you here."  All said in a melliflous Caribbean accent.

While such uber-friendliness could come off as fake, in this man's case, you could tell it was totally authentic.  He radiated sunshine.  Coincidentally, I saw from his name tag, that his name was…

Late Night Free-for-All

In the so-called "good ol' days," there used to only be one undisputed King of Late Night Television, and his name was Johnny Carson.  Any rapscallions who dared attempt to usurp his mighty throne were doomed to failure. The gutters of late night were…

The Bahamas Lotion - 2 - Sun on the Rocks

"Come and see me when you ladies are ready to move on with your next stage in pleasure education. Our beauty precludes us." Penelope frowned at her own words and read a sheet of paper resting on the table. "Precedes us, our beauty precedes us, sorry, if our beauty precluded us, our beauty would not allow us to be, fortunately we are, and our beauty is as well. Come with us and your pleasure will grow by an order of magnitude. Good bye and thanks for watching our infomercial with…

Serial Watching or, Just One More (spoiler alert for Portlandia and Battlestar Galactica)

How many television shows--a series, not a single episode--are you watching? How many have you watched in the past two months or two years? Do you anticipate your program and plan each week for the show’s first broadcast? Do you eagerly await Wednesday nights at 9 pm or Friday at 8 pm? Many of us watch our programs when it’s more convenient, of course, rather than rearranging our schedules to meet the whims of the network or cable programming wizards. Generally speaking, I don't watch tv or…

My Reaction to the Oscars 2013

The Oscars 2013 wasn't the worst telecast of the Academy Awards, but it wasn't the best either. Here are my random thoughts on what worked and what didn't.

New host Seth MacFarlane proved he could sing and dance, but he seemed a bit nervous…
