Obama administration delivers a devastating year of 2012

As we look back at the year of 2012 here on the eve of a new year there are many things that we can proclaim that were regrettable for the United States as we review the actions of a rogue Obama White House. We have lost patriots, Constitutional rights, and our cherished heritage to due process in considering the lawlessness of the current administration. If it…

Hemingway Test – 21 (Em v. the stranger)

Em was in her boss's office when she heard a car-door slam out front. She knew it wasn't anybody who worked in the building, as staff parking was in the back. She also knew it was somebody who'd been cleared past the front gate, else the place would have erupted with alarms and mobilized security units. Yet it was too early…

A Good Idea Gone Horribly Wrong... But Still A Good Idea

So, Trig was giving me grief to post pictures of this place i had recently driven through here in California.  Generally this particular area of my neck of the woods is pretty brown because.. well we do not get lots of rain. In addition there had been a pretty large fire in the area. Anyhoo... it came back lush and beautiful green after some recent rain.

I set out to take pictures and ended up with video.. but not of the area I was talking about & mostly silliness on my…

Django Unchained Might Leave You Unhinged

Quentin Tarantino has got to be at least a little bit insane.  What else can explain the writer/director/actor’s obsession with splattering the cerebral cortexes of his movies’ characters all over the scenery?

I went today to see Tarantino’s latest box office magnet, Django Unchained, starring Jamie Foxx.  I was prepared for a strange…

New Year's Eve Par-TAY

Tonight's features will include some old favorites.

Just look at this line-up!

When Harry Met Sally and

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

Was going to include Meet john Doe, but don't think I can handle staying up so late.

Our start time: 8:15 EST. Expect at least one short followed by our movies.

Come as you are or dress to the teeth--both will be welcome.

And be prepared to leave your keys at the door or bring a designated driver with…

A New Year's Resolution for You?

The way I see it you need to have your heart on your head or on your sleeve or someplace where you can lay your hands on it fast. These days, it's not enough to have your head in the game. Your heart needs to be there, too.

One by one and as a society, we need to have more 'people are hurting, it doesn't have to be this way, we need to do something'…

This is a picture of the Kotel, known in English as either the Wailing Wall or the Western Wall. It is one wall supporting the side of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, on top…

Happy New Year My Friends

photo © 2012 Marlene Dunham

I received this today from a friend, and thought it so apt.  Not necessarily uplifting & positive - but more true to reality.

We can (& should) hope for better, but I believe accepting what comes our way and dealing with the here and now will

keep us grounded.  I'm…

Screw the Fiscal Cliff

All I can say is don’t expect me to get too worked up about this fiscal cliff we are perched on.  This ain’t my first fiscal cliff.  I’ve been jumping these gullies all my life.  So, all this hoopla about doom and destruction just doesn’t get me too excited.  I’ve resigned myself to believe it’s just business as…

One Bright Morning

When I was a kid, I learned this poem

About a bald-headed man with a toothless comb

Don’t know why, but it stuck in my ear

With other little ditties like this one here:

One bright morning, in the middle of the night

Two dead boys got up to fight

Back to back, they faced each other

Drew their swords and killed…

Me and Hillary Almost Find Common Ground

It started the day after Christmas. For a week or more I had been having trouble with my left leg…weakness, pain…and by the day after Christmas I could barely stand on it. Pulling my pants leg up, I examined the offending limb and was shocked to realize that it was roughly twice the size of my healthy right leg.

“Honey, I think I may have a problem.”

Mel walked over, took one look at my leg and gave me the ultimatum; “I’m…

The Handy Man Can

     My house is all clean

      I just need a handyman.

      Someone to clean my gutters,

Unplug my pipes and rake some leaves.

     Someone able to work

and not lay dying on the floor.

     We all are…
