No Regrets

I'm signing off in a few days, with no more posting to follow this.

The only tasks remaining are to download a few more posts and comments. The comments are where it got gritty and people would open up.

Soon all that will gone into the ether, so to speak.

It's been interesting reading comments to see how well I got along with some people at times. For the most part anyway. Things change of course and for a myriad of reasons some exchanges have devolved beyond…

The Magus Plural

They coached his swing but could not make a hitter out of him. I could always hit but did not like getting hit, or yelled at, hazed, or bullied. Why play ball if it does not make you happy? I stopped.

I had gotten hit in the head with both bat and hard ball in my grammar school baseball career. Not hard enough to knock me out, but enough to ask myself what was in this for me? I have a dog memory for head injuries. The ones I don’t remember are the worst, I…

One Last Farewell Post (I've Been Painting) (A Lot)

Hello to all who remain as we close out our final weeks here at Oursalon.

It's been a ride.

Mostly, very enjoyable.

I will miss the wonderful diverse and interesting pieces contributed by so many here; some gone to the next plane, some simply moved off, and some still slugging it out...

I'm not sure what I'll do about Bindlesnitch. I've got an account there but can't make heads nor tails about how to post my artwork. I will keep checking in there and see what's…

Pen for Hire ( Bathos, Pathos)

Coupla three light years ago (Esquire) had an article (something to the effect)'How to Speak Intelligently'.

It discussed 'bathos' and quote pathos unquote, drawing the distinction apropos correct albeit 'occasional' usage of either. A so-called 'concrete poet' of reliable repute with some semantic fluency and euphonious-nous (harmonic) suggested that an inversion of the 'p' and 'b' (in particular if one reads too much or not enough) the 'learning curve' (or…

Trump and The Concept of Stange Bedfellows

Politics makes strange bedfellows. Political interests can bring together people who otherwise have little in common. This saying is adapted from a line in the play The Tempest, by William Shakespeare: “Misery acquaints a man with strange bedfellows.” ---Wikipedia

The Trump phenomenon is a clear and present danger to everything that we know and believe to be good and positive about America...

He has brought…

Always Out Front.... Anyway

I know a coast; or knew a coast before I changed from former colony to republic close to a coast I can never know half as well as I knew the one I knew. I was no less out front there as I am here, where I walked on knowing rank to be a smell, to begin, yet again, at the oceans edge.

Maybe eight years out front in a bigger role is enough time to have an opinion, but having been the native son of a place where people who did not know it called the shots, I don’t…

NARCISSISTIC ABUSE AS AN EXTENSION OF RELIGIOUS AND MORAL PERSECUTION

What the neoteric nomenclature classifies as “Cluster B” Personality Disorders, namely that of “Narcissistic Personality Disorder” and “Antisocial Personality Disorder”, back in the 'day' of our Lord's brief yet profound tenure on this earthen expanse, was merely designated as “evil” and “evildoing” and…

Tolerance and Bigots

Tolerance implies a sense of superiority.

I don't think it is thought of that way very often.

Intolerance is not so terribly different because it is another way of thinking that implies superiority. Most of us recognize that a person who repeatedly spews their intolerance towards thinking that is different than their own is guilty of bigotry. Maybe it's lesser than that. Maybe it is just small mindedness.

Indifference is the ability to go on without caring what…

The Denial of White / Straight / Centrist / Male / Judeo-Christian Privilege

Image result for privilege

Although I expect 99.999999% of the people who read this to go though denial/anger/"yeah, but they hit me back FIRST!" histrionics, unless you are an atheistic, female, true Progressive, LGBTQ, person of color, they have ALL benefited greatly from their privilege and will defend it to their dying breath.

There has been some great examples of this behavior recently right here.  There have…

Where Jaws was Filmed

Bright red ankle skin shinned her alabaster legs, and the sun was white over here, here, high noon to the left over the beach. I fluffed the towel over her just-beginning-to-sting redness. You should know the girls and I sat knees up--now and again prone, relaxing on Navarre Beach. From our vantage the sun was to the left nearly centered. If you are on the internet you may wish to search elsewhere for beach images, maybe in Google images, and find…
