I saw one Mountain Lion

I am fine with that. I don’t know how they are doing, those big cats. We have bob cats too, and all kinds of critters here in the hills above the bay. I don’t have a bay view, I’ve got a hill between me and the fog. It’s a more  than  a two mile hike to the bay  along the creek.

I’m fine with no plan today; no pancakes to wrangle and  no place I have to be. I’m fine with not having to be in DC. The work is here. I’m fine with letting the kids do it.

FDA Approves Injectable Med to Bolster Women's Sex Drive

FDA Approves Injectable Med to Bolster Women's Sex Drive:  Federal regulators approved a medication to boost low sex drive in women that comes in the form of a shot to the thigh or abdomen.  Of course, the first thing Trump officials wanted to know was “is it available in the form of a blowgun dart?”…

A Measure of Intelligence

There are many misconceptions either unintentional or intended that are taught and revised or allowed to remain truth when significant evidence proves otherwise. Using politics to prevent the truth from being exposed has become common place. Topics such as how was the universe created? Are often debated widely, but how about the question of…

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is correct in using the term “concentration camp”... A guest post from VOX.com

I’m a Jewish historian. Yes, we should call border detention centers “concentration camps.”

It isn’t just accurate. It’s necessary.

The Myth of Social Justice

Among the many false narratives we have been instructed to digest is the phrase “Social Justice” the term has absolutely nothing to do with what it implies. This saying is straight out of the Communist Manifesto and applies to Communist, Socialist, rationale. The term really means, “Anything we label as justice”. Let us be perfectly clear on…

A Last Hurrah --- Aloha Kakou

As the ʻAlalā flies ... From Here To Eternity

Yaaaaaaaassssss, said Kerouac's Dean Moriarty channeling Cassidy, and it does seem like a road trip from Open to Here to Nowhere. I stumbled on Open and thought what a chance to write about Surfing and The Islands. In an abrupt detour a Hawaiian was elected President and immediately attacked by the same pack of lying liars who have for centuries mislead the "Average American" with a cacophony of phony fibs specifically…

Peace Be With You or Else

Off on a one book tangent, the peace dividend waned, blown on blow jobs , sax lessons, and greens fees. Roundup sales soared as the Green Revolution turned produce to plastic, and our bodies in to profit centers; Prozac becomes the new Ajax, and kids are then drugged more than spanked.

Hands off!  Let the professionals decide what goes in the air, water, soil, and in your pie hole, which is no longer for pie. Pie is as out as climate science. Think not, as you…

No Regrets

I'm signing off in a few days, with no more posting to follow this.

The only tasks remaining are to download a few more posts and comments. The comments are where it got gritty and people would open up.

Soon all that will gone into the ether, so to speak.

It's been interesting reading comments to see how well I got along with some people at times. For the most part anyway. Things change of course and for a myriad of reasons some exchanges have devolved beyond…

The Magus Plural

They coached his swing but could not make a hitter out of him. I could always hit but did not like getting hit, or yelled at, hazed, or bullied. Why play ball if it does not make you happy? I stopped.

I had gotten hit in the head with both bat and hard ball in my grammar school baseball career. Not hard enough to knock me out, but enough to ask myself what was in this for me? I have a dog memory for head injuries. The ones I don’t remember are the worst, I…

One Last Farewell Post (I've Been Painting) (A Lot)

Hello to all who remain as we close out our final weeks here at Oursalon.

It's been a ride.

Mostly, very enjoyable.

I will miss the wonderful diverse and interesting pieces contributed by so many here; some gone to the next plane, some simply moved off, and some still slugging it out...

I'm not sure what I'll do about Bindlesnitch. I've got an account there but can't make heads nor tails about how to post my artwork. I will keep checking in there and see what's…

Pen for Hire ( Bathos, Pathos)

Coupla three light years ago (Esquire) had an article (something to the effect)'How to Speak Intelligently'.

It discussed 'bathos' and quote pathos unquote, drawing the distinction apropos correct albeit 'occasional' usage of either. A so-called 'concrete poet' of reliable repute with some semantic fluency and euphonious-nous (harmonic) suggested that an inversion of the 'p' and 'b' (in particular if one reads too much or not enough) the 'learning curve' (or…
