FBI Finds 3,178 Embalmed Human Penises in Mortician’s Home

FBI Finds 3,178 Embalmed Human Penises in Mortician’s Home:  After receiving reports of missing organs and body parts, FBI agents raided the residence of a Houston mortician, and were astonished to find 3,178 embalmed human penises.  All I can say is, I don’t care if she has served all her time, it’s NEVER a good idea to allow Lorena Bobbitt to work in a morgue.  Now the big question is, will any of this evidence stand up in court?…

Trump’s Tax Reform Plan Will Hurt Most Americans; Exactly How Is Not Yet Clear

Recently Bloomberg reported that individuals who itemize their deductions or save for retirement will pay thousands more in taxes under the GOP plan.  Is anyone surprised?

Apparently, in order to fund the proposed elimination of the estate tax (which will benefit those with individual estates worth over $5.49 million) President has handedthe GOP a plan that looks at limiting or eliminating a number of deductions. The mortgage interest deduction appears to be spared.…

In anyone's life they have done/caused to be done things that are good, bad and in between.  That most certainly can be said about Hugh Marston Hefner.

On one hand he was guilty of the objectifying women, but on the other, he was an advocate for women's reproductive, educational, employment and personal rights.

The area where he was quite vocal, and the reason I'm…

CULEBRA IS A SMALL ISLAND. DECIMATED NOW BY MARIA. I posted this on OPEN some years back. It is also about loss.

It happens every night. Aqua waves, black in the moonlight, rush to clean the coral sand before sunrise. There is an order to this. All that belonged to yesterday is erased."

Flamenco Beach: Culebra PR

The first footsteps of the day, the first words drawn on the sand…today, will be mine. The surf is a sparse fringe of lacy froth. It offers enticements of opalescent shell and bits…

A Lesson on How to Deal With the Humanitarian Crisis in the Caribbean: The Berlin Airlift

In response to the Soviet blockade of land routes into West Berlin, the United States begins a massive airlift of food, water, and medicine to the citizens of the besieged city. For nearly a year, supplies from American planes sustained the over 2 million people in West Berlin.

On June 24, 1948, the Soviet Union blocked all road and rail travel to and from West Berlin, which was located within the Soviet zone of occupation in Germany. The Soviet action was in response to the…

Living with Cancer

 Rocky Horror

She was instantly likable; an outgoing woman whose black accent was deliberate and resonant.  She had a way of saying things that reminded one of Yogi Berra or Gerald Ford.  Caught washing her own dishes by hand at the Caring House (a wonderful residential facility for patients who will be getting cancer treatment over…

Painting is My Sanity

I’ve been painting every spare hour I can find. In reality, I need at least three or four hours at a time; more if I can get it. I have been able to accomplish that fairly often these past few weeks, because I took a month off from my home classes after the summer classes were finished. It’s become more important than ever to keep my mind occupied with constructive, positive work. There is too much going in…

What it is isn't football

The NFL bears about the same resemblance to “Football” as “professional” wrestling bears to collegiate wrestling. (Which is about the same as collegiate wrestling bears to warfare, or an actual fight)

Which is to say, almost none whatsoever.

The NFL is a form of entertainment. Bread and Circuses. The entertainers Are free to…

You Should Know

You should know that you're engaged in the exercise of white privilege when: You have to ask why black people are mad as hell.

You should know that you're a racist if you don't know and don't care why black people are mad as hell.
