Beth Nakamura from The Oregonian posted this photo on twitter this morning, taken up in Portland - it perfectly encapsulates just who Asha, Taliesin's mom, is.

It is absolutely no wonder to anyone who has met her that her son was also who he was.…

Hearing From an Old Friend - a Bird

It is Memorial Day and there will be plenty of things written and said about fallen soldiers, grave decoration and our efforts to keep the memories of loved ones alive.  This is something entirely different.

For those of you who are tired of hearing about politics this is a diversion

If you like the outdoors and nature you may actually be entertained.…

"All Gave Some - Some Gave All"

Image result for gave their all veterans

Memorial Day is suppose to be the day we remember the people who died "defending" America.

It has always struck me as odd that the only people who actually defended American were the ones during or prior to WWII.  The rest of the wars we have started by invading other countries and by trying to jamb our ideas of "democracy" down their throats (usually as an excuse to either sell weapons or steal their natural…

As Green Car Sales Lag, Auto Makers Turn to "Hyrbrid Rock"

DETROIT.  The news out of Motor City is good these days, with car sales trending upwards for the past seven years.  “It’s really been a boom time,” says automotive analyst Morton Hatch, “except for the runt of the litter.”

Hatch is referring to what some lump together as “green” vehicles, typically hybrids that use a combination of energy sources, such as a gas-fueled internal combustion engine and a battery-powered electric motor.  “They’re the sick puppies of the industry,” he says,…

Repost: The Price of Admission

This was originally posted May 25 of 2014. This post is about my father in law. My father, who died very shortly after my father in law, was also a veteran, but not a combat veteran. Dad was stationed at the Panama Canal Zone, which is how I happened to have been born there, like John McCain was, for a similar reason.

My father-in-law was a Korean War combat vet who died this past August a few days… Continue

Yet Another Memorial Day - a Repost.

Memorial Day is supposed to be something more than the Indianapolis 500, backyard barbecues and Big Box store sales.  Try to ignore hubris of the Beast "45" and take a moment to reflect on those, living and dead, who truly sacrificed to make America great. …

Somebody Somewhere....

Somebody somewhere voted for a man who mocks the afflicted and disabled.

Somebody somewhere voted for a man who boasts about his sexual assaults and direspect of women.

Somebody somewhere voted for a man who would date his own daughter.

Somebody somewhere voted for a man who thinks American POWs are losers.

Somebody somewhere voted for a man who believes that Frederck Douglass is doing a great job.

Somebody some where voted for a man who…

Lack Of Sleep May Cause Your Brain To Eat Itself

Lack Of Sleep May Cause Your Brain To Eat Itself:  Scientists say not getting enough sleep can cause the brain to “eat up” its connections, while also increasing risk of Alzheimer's disease and other neurological disorders.  Great, like I needed something else to worry about at 3 AM.  On the other hand, this may finally explain what’s up with Trump when he’s blasting out all those angry, incoherent tweets in the middle of the night.…

Today Show Tribute to Summer of Love Turns Sour With Bad Acid

NEW YORK.  It’s been a half century since the Age of Aquarius began, but most observers agree that the potent brew of psychedelic drugs, casual sex and anti-war politics that were mixed together during the “Summer of Love” in 1967 changed America forever.…

White House May Appoint Legal Team To Monitor Trump Tweets

White House May Appoint Legal Team To Monitor Trump Tweets:  According to The Wall Street Journal, the White House is considering appointing a legal team to police President Trump’s infamous social media posts as numerous investigations are being launched into White House officials.  Yea, and while they’re at it, they might wanna think about adding a few psychiatrists to that team also.…

Waiting in Limbo

This is not like January when I continue to write the previous year when I fill in a date.  That's just about another year passing.  With each year that has less appeal, but it could be a better year.  But not this year.  Nothing has suggested an improved future.  I won’t be able to change this year.  I want to go back to 2016.  When someone on the news mentions the President I see Barack Obama’s face.  When they mention the First Lady I see Michelle Obama’s bare shoulders and big…

Gregg Allman died

Gregg Allman died today. He was 69 years old.

I don't know if there is anyone here who doesn't know who he was. In case you don't, he's the surviving brother (until today) in the Allman Brothers Band, their lead vocalist and organ player. He is known in some other circles for being married to Cher for four years.

I saw his band in concert twice, both during the early to mid seventies, during the period with Chuck Leavell on piano, once at RFK Stadium in DC with the Dead… Continue

Beautiful Human Down

You might have seen it on the news, two Muslim girls being harassed on the Portland, Oregon, MAX train, two people try to intervene, they both are 'viciously attacked' and killed by the racist harasser.....

You might also remember a post I did last November, about my son attending a party where suddenly a young man is murdered....

Today I…

Caption this photo, plus a poem from Fark.Com

My submission: "Guess which person just farted." I'm sure you clever lot can do better.

OK, on to this, also from Fark and written by a poster named Twilight Zone, whom I would very much like to meet in real life. If I met people in real life, that is.

Personal Note: Call for a Kidney

This will lead my radio episodes for a time.

I begin today w a personal note…and w some reluctance bc I like to draw the line between the public and the personal. Our World has become a talk-show where people are too often seen as churlish if they as yet are wont to draw distinctions betw public and private life. And…
