The Prayer Of The Distant Traveler

The Prayer Of The Distant Traveler

Safe havens on this long and endless road

where I journey far away from those I know

or return with great tales of those special things I’ve seen

and spirits I have encountered

by supper’s fire or beneath the tree

which invites rest midday

before adventure continues;

through it all I pray

my steps are measured

and I am guided by my maker

through valley and over…

The Edge

The Edge

I walk the edge in prayer and meditation

knowing that I judge before I think,

speak words forever on the wind

which I chastise myself,

for allowing them the wings of flight.

Missed opportunities for kind acts plague me so

that I would rewind my life

then I might right my thoughtlessness,

by making good on afterthoughts

which should have been completed at the time.

It is hard to…

Weeping In The Green

Weeping In The Green

I’ve stood outside the graveyard fence then watched the grieving group

I did not know for whom they mourned but felt their heaviness

for loss cannot be measured by the emptiness one feels

nor by the open chair that we find somewhere down the road

finality of one so dear; extinction of our friend

those heavy hearts about a hole drawn to each other’s side

share in the burden of the loss as healing comes to…

The Riddle

No steps to reach the door,

no handle to turn open,

yet I hunger to go through

which seems to be,

an impossibility

and yet it visits time and again

as I rest my eyes,

when mind’s adrift and less aware

making me want, even though

there’s nothing that I know

that I would want there.

Tired is the brain

to solve the puzzle,

that waits behind the door

but knowing…

Hi there Blinddream.  Glad to see you here.  I have to make this short, since I'm on my way out the door for the weekend.  Have a great Thanksgiving.

Welcome!

With any new site, we understand that finding your way around can be a bit daunting. To help you use our site, we have a few resources and tips, all of which can be found on pages under the ABOUT tab in your top menu bar. They are:

FAQ- here you can find some quick answers to general questions, questions about privacy and about site features.

Site News, Tips & Tricks - this is our forum where you can find tips on using the site, news about site changes and other information from the staff and other members.

Our Terms Of Service and Our Copyright Policy can also be found under the ABOUT tab.

You may also find additional help by going to chat and asking another member. Chat can be found in 2 place: There is a CHAT  link in your top menu which will open chat in your browser.

The other option for opening chat is to use the small tabs at the bottom of most pages. The tab named "Opium Den" (our chat name) will open the in a small pop up window at the bottom of the screen. This window can also be resized or 'popped-out' and used as a separate window.

There is  a "Members Online" tab on the bottom of your page too. This will show which other members are logged in (logged in does not mean they are active in the chat, simply they are logged in to the site). There is a small speaker icon which will allow you to adjust the chat beeps which many prefer to turn off or down when not actively chatting.

We have many excellent features and tools here. While it may seem overwhelming at first, the basics of posting and commenting are simple and before too long we hope you will feel comfortable and at home.

Bang around, explore, write, comment and most of all have fun!
