This seems to be the season of bat-mitzvahs in my family. There was one on May 27th and there was another this past weekend. Personally, I'm Jewish, but I don't believe in it and as such, I don't go to services often. At least I usually don't.

Yesterday, students all across the country remained silent to raise awareness about anti-LGBT bullying. At a local middle school, however, they handed out stickers that said:
"Hello, I am not speaking today because I am participating in the Day of Silence, a vow taken to raise awareness for bullying and discrimination. My silence represents the voices of the bullied who are unable to speak up for themselves. Think about all the voices you're NOT hearing today."
Without liberty, there can be no true justice. Without justice, there can be no true liberty.
While the two may seem at odds, there can't be one without the other.
Justice without liberty is a "kangaroo court," a dictatorship where unpopular opinions are squashed before they can even be heard. Tyranny, of the minority or the minority. The elections are finally over. To me at least, it felt like they would never end, between the primaries that seemed to go on forever, and the long general election. I must admit, I followed them on and off, and even when I was watching some news every day, the news I'm referring to was the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report.
