Cardinals, Popes, Howard Stern and Rudy Giuiani: You Can't Make This Stuff Up!

Posted on March 6, 2013 at 12:01pm 0 Comments

A lot of holy water has been sprinkled over the faithful since the 2008 presidential campaign run of former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani which earned him several snubs by Catholic hierarchy for his pro-choice views.  At that time, Cardinal William Keeler of Baltimore refused to share the Loyola Commencement stage with Giuliani because the former mayor is pro-choice. No one mentioned that the…

Non Habemus Papam at the Moment

On February 11, 2013 the world was stunned to learn that Pope Benedict XVI was resigning from the papacy—one of the world’s all-time best jobs for life. I am stunned that that same world is so ready to accept the papal reason for leaving: he alleges that he no longer had the physical or psychological strength to carry on.

Call me a skeptic, but I am bound to question how the leader of a global religion, especially one as wealthy and politically complex and powerful as the Roman…

Newtown, Connecticut Shines a Floodlight on America's Shame and Insane Hypocrisy

Like television viewers here in the US and around the globe, I have been overwhelmed by the coverage of the Newtown, CT massacre of schoolchildren and their educators. Overwhelmingly the victims of that tragedy were little ones between the ages of 6 and 10 years, so the term “slaughter of the innocents” applies.

In the endless coverage the Newtown, Connecticut slaughter if innocents I hear references to gun reform— so-called liberals on one side saying it’s time for America to get rid…

Mary Ann--I haven't been into OS in a couple of months now.  It lost its appeal.  It got too hard to access and then it seemed as though most posts were screeching political indictments of one sort or another.  Plus, nearly all my blogging anymore is on my "cheap-bastid-cooks" blog which I cross-post to "Orphans" over on Facebook.

It's great to see you over here too.  Maybe with both you and "Torman" doing your writing here I'll spend a bit more time browsing, reading and commenting.
