Bio
My career has been in education, primarily serving as an English teacher on the Navajo reservation for over two decades before semi-retiring to work for a small Tempe, Az based company in online education. Now am retired, so I have more time for passions like travel, movies, and watching baseball. I also enjoy volunteer work as a docent for the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Az. But I will be starting a new phase in September, 2014 as I relocate to Nepal.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) -- movie review

Based on sleezy stockbroker Jordan Belfort's memoir, The Wolf of Wall Street graphically illustrates American excess. Martin Scorsese crams of over the top sex, drugs, and money scamming into a three hour tour of an American Caligula (Leonardo DiCaprio's comparison). Stylistically similar to the final thirty minutes of…

Fox's original gay romance stands up as a very good film; this sequel is even stronger. It relies far less on developing a romance than it does…

Following the footsteps of Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, and Gandhi

Back from Nepal now nearly two weeks yet feeling a yearning to return, I was checking some Facebook posts one streaming newsfeed caught my attention. It referenced icons Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, and Gandhi and their success--referencing how their focus on their personal gifts and using them to advantage.

Unique gifts that profoundly changed the world.

Welcome!

With any new site, we understand that finding your way around can be a bit daunting. To help you use our site, we have a few resources and tips, all of which can be found on pages under the ABOUT tab in your top menu bar. They are:

FAQ- here you can find some quick answers to general questions, questions about privacy and about site features.

Site News, Tips & Tricks - this is our forum where you can find tips on using the site, news about site changes and other information from the staff and other members.

Our Terms Of Service and Our Copyright Policy can also be found under the ABOUT tab.

You may also find additional help by going to chat and asking another member. Chat can be found in 2 place: There is a CHAT link in your top menu which will open chat in your browser.

The other option for opening chat is to use the small tabs at the bottom of most pages. The tab named "Opium Den" (our chat name) will open the in a small pop up window at the bottom of the screen. This window can also be resized or 'popped-out' and used as a separate window.

There is a "Members Online" tab on the bottom of your page too. This will show which other members are logged in (logged in does not mean they are active in the chat, simply they are logged in to the site). There is a small speaker icon which will allow you to adjust the chat beeps which many prefer to turn off or down when not actively chatting.

We have many excellent features and tools here. While it may seem overwhelming at first, the basics of posting and commenting are simple and before too long we hope you will feel comfortable and at home.

Bang around, explore, write, comment and most of all have fun!
