Enjoy The Life

I didn't get her name until the end of our time together. When she approached me with her beautiful smile yesterday at the National Cathedral, I wondered how she knew me.

It's so nice to see you here, she said. She asked if I still lived on M St. and did I still work at the school in the neighborhood. I scanned her face, hoping for any trace of recognition. I swear I'd never seen her before in my life.

It's an interracial family. A white mom, a black dad, and a biracial daughter.

It looks like my family, sort of. The daughter in the commercial is beautiful, and looks more like her dad. The daughter in my family is beautiful, and looks more like me. She has more of my genes than her dad's, but she is most definitely biracial.

And it… Continue
