Bugging Out

It’s better to be a warrior in a garden, than a gardener in a war. That’s how you sum up the philosophy of owning a Bug Out Bag (B.O.B). It’s something that you honestly hope you never need to use, a just in case system to save your butt if hell or high water comes knocking! A B.O.B means something a little different for everyone and for every separate situation they are created for. I personally have two bug out bags, one for my vehicle and one for my home. My vehicle B.O.B is a…

My wife and I live in the most amazing place. It's a mix of big city and beach living. It's a place where there are skyscrapers, public art and huge bridges, you can go out a get some of the best food you can imagine but you still occasionally have to stop your car to let wildlife pass. This place is Sarasota Florida,…

Cheeseburger in Paradise

A guy at Bill Jackson's Shop for Adventure in Clearwater Florida told me about this little island called cabbage key, the island is located about 10 miles off the coast of pine island outside Ft Myers FL and has a historic inn and restaurant on it. Cabbage Key is accessible only by boat, and has been a refuge to artists and writers since its founding in 19whatever. The kicker is that the key had once been a haunt of the infamous margarita wielding pirate jimmy buffet and the rumor…

A Symphony of Snicks "a Tale of Clan Priest"

My wife is a wonderful, beautiful woman who grew up in an aristocratic southern family in North Carolina. I met her in Raleigh after I got out of the service. her family likes to drink martinis while watching the help mow the yard. My family on the other hand is a salt of the earth bunch; We came over on the mayflower and have lived on the same land for hundreds of year. We are known in our community as fishermen, farmers, Hunters and just all-around resourceful and hearty folk. One year…

Welcome!

With any new site, we understand that finding your way around can be a bit daunting. To help you use our site, we have a few resources and tips, all of which can be found on pages under the Support tab in your top menu bar. They are:

FAQ- here you can find some quick answers to general questions, questions about privacy and about site features.

Site News, Tips & Tricks - this is our forum where you can find tips on using the site, news about site changes and other information from the staff and other members.

Our Terms Of Service and Our Copyright Policy can also be found under the Support tab.

You may also find additional help by going to chat and asking another member. Chat can be found in 2 place: There is a CHAT link in your top menu which will open chat in your browser.

The other option for opening chat is to use the small tabs at the bottom of most pages. The tab named "Opium Den" (our chat name) will open the in a small pop up window at the bottom of the screen. This window can also be resized or 'popped-out' and used as a separate window.

There is a "Members Online" tab on the bottom of your page too. This will show which other members are logged in (logged in does not mean they are active in the chat, simply they are logged in to the site). There is a small speaker icon which will allow you to adjust the chat beeps which many prefer to turn off or down when not actively chatting.

We have many excellent features and tools here. While it may seem overwhelming at first, the basics of posting and commenting are simple and before too long we hope you will feel comfortable and at home.

Bang around, explore, write, comment and most of all have fun!
